  • Police Reveal How Jobs' Burglar Was Caught

As MMi reported yesterday, the estate of late Apple CEO Steve Jobs was recently burglarized. More than $60,000 worth of computers and personal items were taken in the heist, which wasn't targeted at Jobs or his family.

"The best we can tell is it was totally random," police told the media on Tuesday, adding that a 35-year old Alameda man named Kariem McFarlin was arrested as a suspect in the crime. This morning, however, more details are coming to light with regard to how McFarlin was traced.

The criminal suspect made off with Jobs' car keys and even his wallet, which reports indicate contained no high dollar amount of cash. The real valuables came in the form of Apple devices... devices that would ultimately give away the robber's position to authorities once they were powered up and connected to Apple's servers.

McFarlin reportedly told police that his crime was an act of desperation. Living out of his car for some time, the burglar targeted Jobs' house only after viewing an ongoing construction project at the estate.

Ok..so if you are having hard times, go to some random house being worked on and steal what you can? Everyone with a brain knows all smart devices have GPS enabled..he should at least "read" up on technology before taking it without payment..yikes!

So a random guy was able to get into Jobs house? And hews so stupid he didn't know about GPS? Its called ADT Jobs family, maybe Apple should buy that company. You would think that house would be a little bit more secure than that?

Wonder if the police will do the same thing if someone steals my iPhone or iPad. I tend to think not.

Love how someone tried to pin this down on Samsung, really, what has the world come to? Someone who can afford internet doesn't understand the concept of the homeless breaking the law to survive, I'm not saying it right, but what other choice would the man have had?

The home is a pretty modest home for the money he was worth. And Steve Jobs openly talked about just leaving his house unlocked a lot of the time.

Wait... no one else thinks it's weird that his car keys and wallet are still lying around? Possibly on the hall table? That's how I'm picturing it.

I agree. I cut back on lots of things, but one things is certain, my family's food on their plate, roof over their heads, and gas in the car.
