Earlier today Apple released the iOS 6 beta 4 and with it Google’s native YouTube application disappeared.
We mentioned the missing application briefly earlier today, but Apple has since confirmed to the Verge that the native app will not exist at all when Apple officially releases iOS 6 this fall. For those unaware the YouTube application has been featured on Apple’s iPhone since the devices first iteration.
Apple’s official statement is short, and to the point.
"Our license to include the YouTube app in iOS has ended, customers can use YouTube in the Safari browser and Google is working on a new YouTube app to be on the App Store." — Apple
Somehow this seems like a win-win situation for Apple and Google, as Google gets the chance to develop their own app the way they want and Apple gets to rid iOS of a native app that helps their largest competitor.
