  • Apple Making Big Changes Regarding Samsung in iPad Panel Orders

    Apple is jostling around its massive orders for iPad panels according to a new report out of the far east this morning.

    Per the supply chain chatter making some noise Friday, Apple is significantly cutting the iPad screen shipments it receives from rival Samsung as the iDevice maker rapidly shifts its business to the panels made by the likes of LG and Sharp.

    "As Apple is revising the new iPad and plans to launch a new version of iPad, the vendor is expected to adjust inventory level of iPad panels, with shipments decreasing in July and August and then increasing in September," knowledgeable sources tell Digitimes.

    Perhaps it's no coincidence that news of Apple's reduced reliance upon Samsung comes as Apple and Samsung are locked in an epic legal battle that has both sides warring to an unprecedented degree. The courtroom acrimony has clearly spilled over into the supply chain. And LG and Sharp look to benefit from this reality.

      or..with the all the legal issues they are having with samsung, why give them money?

      They need to give them money so Samsung can pay for the lawyers that are defending them against Apple lawsuits! LOL!

      This is Samsung's own doing. They were making more money selling parts to Apple then them selling their own phones. In the end, Samsung will weep what they sow.

      It's not going to end well for Samsung. They should have been more innovative and spent more time creating their own designs instead of grabbing what Apple already had out and was selling like crazy. They should have just kept what they had with Apple, selling screens to them, they were making bank! Not so much anymore...

      Last I checked, Samsung has plenty of money, like their sole source of income is idevices, are you clowns even aware of anything outside Apple's orbit? Seriously, what planet are you fanboys living on?? They have enough to go to war with Apple and they're not buckling at all, I don't see anybody else crossing swords with the holier-than-thou Apple, smh. LG is also Korean. And it's "reap" what they sow, not weep, good lord... I just want to stamp one of my unused Apple stickers right on your fanboy foreheads lmao! This is about global dominance, it's got nothing to do with selling some phones, its end-game, do you follow? Right now Samsung's products rule Asia, you know, that gigantic continent on the other side of the world? Samsung makes more than just phones you dingleberries, I like Apple but c'mon now, a little healthy competition never hurt nobody, Apple is behaving like a child, "Meh, it's mine! All mine! I'm telling on you! Wah~wah!" Both sides are going to feel it in the end, Samsung and Apple did good business together before this ridiculous fiasco.

      Honestly, Samsung has a lot of great phones out there, they probably don't even need apple at this point. Which makes me wonder how long it will be before Samsung has the guts to tell Apple that if they continue these lawsuits that they will not renew the contracts for Apple's screens when they expire.

      Very well said. People in US think that this is the only world. Ignos, there is a big big big world out there Seriously, we living in US are so kept in dark and controlled.

      Perhaps you should invest in some reading glasses... Entities that have crossed swords with Apple include, but are not limited to, the governments of several countries, US Justice Department, Samsung, Motorola, Cisco, Shenzen Proview Tech, Carl Sagan, and a whole slew of class action suites (iPod Headphones, Antenna-Gate, eBook Price fixing, etc.) just to name a few.

      Quite right, it's about global dominance and business and the legal system is a business tool. Apple feels it has grounds for suite and is exercising its right to pursue them in hopes of eliminating competition, hurting a competitor, and increasing revenue- it's quite common in business and Apple's competitors do the same. Nobody cared what Apple did in the late 90's and early 00's because it was considered a non-player, a purveyor of a niche computer and operating system. Back then everyone hated Microsoft and SCO as the big evil corporations who were accused of the same thing. People love to hate success, that's quite common too.
