  • Introducing Ayecon for iPad - Launching This Friday

Arguably one of the best-looking themes of the year, ayecon by graphic designer Surenix is coming to the iPad this Friday, August 3rd and will be called ayecon for iPad. The theme redesigns all of Apple's stock application icons, one by one, and has a large library of support for some of the most popular Cydia and App Store apps. Oh and another thing – it supports the retina display resolution of the new iPad and runs on iOS 4 or iOS 5!

Ayecon for iPad will change the way you look at your lock screen. The Status Bar becomes ultra-transparent, the slide to unlock slider becomes slimmer, and the camera grabber gets a new look. Also redesigned are the lock screen notification alerts and the enter passcode box. The passcode box favors a rounder, smoother appearance than stock and the smooth entry into your device is just the beginning.

As you unlock your device, your eyes are suddenly filled with pixel-pleasure as you suddenly see the extreme detail that was added to each and every one of the application icons – both stock and aftermarket. The home screen takes the simplicity that Apple created, and combines it with detail. Surenix’s goal here was definitely to remain minimal, but still give it that high-class appearance. Icons look great, their shadows help them stand out, and the shiny new dock just adds to the value.

Folders, the multitasking App Switcher, and the iPod controls all get a new background. The folder icons get new skins that look great whether they’re full or nearly empty. The multitasking App Switcher icons get a neat new tear drop-like close button when held down on. The iPod controls are completely redesigned with shiny metallic luster in mind.

It doesn’t stop at the home screen – open an application and you will find yourself looking at a soft interface that looks as great as the home screen did. The icons that are found along the left edge of the Settings application are just as detailed as the larger scale icons on your home screen. Chat bubbles in the Messages application pop out at you with a softer appearance, whether you’re the sender or the receiver.

From Notification Center you are accompanied by the same great-looking background you find inside of folders and the multitasking App Switcher. Themed application icons look just as great here as they do anywhere else in iOS. For anyone that uses SBSettings as a widget in Notification Center, you’ll be happy to hear that ayecon supports SBSettings too!

Apart from the obvious changes, ayecon for iPad also makes some subtle changes to the icons that appear on your status bar, such as the location indicator and Wi-Fi signal strength indicator icon. These changes are just delicate enough to keep your iOS device looking like an iOS device, but still beautiful enough that you will never want to go back to looking stock again.

In case you haven’t checked out the iPhone and iPod touch version of ayecon yet, don’t worry – ModMyi will fill you in on that as well!

Ayecon looks just as great on the iPhone or iPod touch’s smaller display as it does on the giant iPad display. That soft interface on the smaller iOS device’s lock screen feels so much more personal than using Apple’s stock lock screen appearance, which is so easily pointed out nowadays that it’s almost cliché. Ayecon gives you something to be proud of: the feeling of individuality.

You get those same amazing looking icons on your smaller iOS device's retina display. The detail comes even closer to your face with your iPhone than it does with your iPad. You will appreciate the very crisp designs that are integrated within the application icons and maybe just stare at them once in a while. If you have Clockify or LiveClock, you will notice that ayecon plays nicely with them and themes the live clock application to look great and remain animated with the two free ayecon add-ons that can be downloaded from Cydia for each tweak.

Not only does SBSettings get themed from Notification Center, but also in its drop-down menu form. The SBSettings ayecon theme is a free addon from Cydia when you purchase ayecon. That same great wallpaper is behind folders, the multitasking App Switcher, Notification Center, and SBSettings as you saw with the iPad version above.

Navigation panes get a very soft blue look and the Status Bar follows suit with a softer gray and softer green battery filling. Status Bar icons are changed the same way in the iPhone and iPod touch version of ayecon as in the iPad version. Messages' chat bubbles are softened and look great in ayecon. As you browse through the Settings application, you also notice the icons on the left that look like mini versions of the real thing.

For application icons that ayecon cannot cover, icon masks take over to try and match them with the rest of the theme. Ayecon for the iPad supports over 50 icons and ayecon for the iPhone and iPod touch supports over 120 icons. Many more applications are themed than just what is shown above, including the iPhone’s phone application dialer interface. Surenix is actively adding more and more icon support as we speak.

If you’re serious about theming, you just have to take a look at ayecon for iPad and even the iPhone or iPod touch version, which is called just “ayecon.” Ayecon is $2.99 in the Cydia store for new customers and ayecon for iPad will follow suit. If you own ayecon already, ayecon for iPad will be only $1.99 for you. Ayecon is by far my personal favorite theme. • iPhone 4

That I'd have to agree! Still a great theme though, I thought the ui change would be slightly more different. I love the icons though(I put them at 95% via springtomize and they look much better)

Se7en HD looks better with retina display n everything, sadly n disappointing since I waited so many weeks for this iPad AYECON version, it seems like he just resized some of the icons n they got all blurry and he also didn't do some icons like the ********** one(I'm not supporting piracy but he should have added at least all icons, right?)

That would be showing support for it if he did, in my opinion.

True, he's got a point as far as quality goes in this theme. Clearly wasn't reoptimized, just resized.

If you shrink the icon size it looks much better

Good idea. Still very nice. I just wish there were more icons, color keyboard, etc for a more complete theme on both the iPhone and iPad. Eh but I bought them both anyway...

Yah it's the icon detail that gets me, I wish the quality was much better though. Still a very nice theme and IMO one of the best.
