I bought this app as soon as I saw this in hopes that i could use it to read my SD card. Didn't work.

Downloading now.. if this actually works its worth it... will report back in a few minutes...

Where's the rating? Too often you guys test and review pointless tweaks, this one could use a in-depth review.

I wish someone would make a camera attachment for the ipod touch 2g.

Edit: Tried this on iPhone 4, iPhone 4S and iPhone 3GS and does not work. 5.0.1, 5.1 and 5.1.1 and no go... sometimes I get it to open photo.app but nothing happens.

I wish the writer would try the app before posting about it because this is a doa. Developer please fix.

I tried using a Sony W100, Kodak, C530, Kodak Z650 also tried the SD Card reader attachment... again nothing. It seems there is a certain camera or device the developer was using and he got it working with his setup but the rest of us are out of luck.

Rumor has it, the kernel from 5.0b1 - 5.0b3 supported the CCK, on iPhone4 and iPT4.
Later betas had this feature "disabled".

Unfortunately, none of the devs who "discovered" this nifty trick seem to have documented in any kind of detail what worked and what didn't, at least not publicly. And those betas are no longer available or usable by anyone :/

May be a little early to call, but based on reports in this thread, I'm thinking MAYBE FAKE. maybe not fake

I got exactly the same issue. Tried to connect everything but seems that it's probably a scam rather than a working tweak. Hope there's an existing fix for the issue.

Not so weird.
I'd be surprised if it were very large. It shouldn't need to be.
What surprises me is that the devs don't indicate which devices it will and won't run on.

Rebooting after installing did nothing I tried that with all three devices. I also tried with SD card with photos or without. NOTHING WORKED!

No configuration worked, no device worked... even installing on a freshly restored device did NOTHING.

Even doing it at an APPLE store did nothing!

Deeply sorry about this.

Please note, the adapter has the issue of not detecting devices even when one uses it on the iPad.

For example, I use a Model M 122 PS/2 keyboard, at times, the device goes to sleep and suspends the USB port, which makes iapd go mad and stop allowing devices to be connected. This is rectified by restarting, or reconnecting the device.

The actual USB hardware is a little bit buggy from what I've experienced with all of my devices (which would be: iPhone 4, iPod touch 4G, iPad 1, iPad 3)

Also, for some reason, it does not appear to work properly with 8920/8922 devices, this needs to be looked into for the future, however, an update will eventually be released that fixes these issues.

All 8930+ devices have a full USB OHCI/EHCI controller and support host mode.

The general issue is, iapd is buggy (which is the Apple Accessory Daemon), and only works properly sometimes, when issues prop up:

1) Unplug the adapter and wait for a bit
2) Kill iapd and wait 40 seconds, then try plugging it back in.
3) Reboot the device.

Known bugs for this version:

iapd is not killed after installation, reboot for now.
USB Mass Storage is not supported, wait for an update to rectify this issue.

I'm working to fix some of these issues at the moment.

Now, notice, when the device says "The connected USB device is not recognized", this means that actually it is being misdetected by a device arbitrator (in the case of USB MSC devices). A full IOKit node is created for the device and you can send/receive data. For example, opensn0w for iOS relies on this.

I am sorry about the issues relating to your experiences. I will try to rectify these issues as soon as possible.

The roadmap is currently this:

0.0.1 - USB HID/PTP device support mainly done.
0.0.2 - USB Mass storage support done.

And then general bugfixes and all from there.

Please note, these updates will all be free.

Oh, and the kernel still has prelinked kernel extensions for IOUSBFamily, and the AppleEmbeddedUSBHost/AppleEmbeddedUSBHub.

One more thing: the SD card adapter is really a SD->USB->Dock connector, based on the configuration descriptors, it is another MSC device, which loops into the misdetected arbitrator issue.

Man, after plugged the keyboard in my iPhone 4 and had a reboot ... NOW IT WORKS... Awesome but the tweak should take sometime to improve. Hope to get a fix/ improvement in the near future.

But it's still getting something like "The hardware is not supported blah blah blah" or "This accessory is not supported by iPad blah blah blah"

The Camera Kit has horrible ratings in the Apple Store. Apparently it has a hard time working for dozens of brand name and non-brand name cameras - even on the iPad 2 and New iPad. It may not be that it's the Jailbreak developer's fault. RMS probably has it just right, but the Apple hardware lacks in function with any and/or all iDevices. IMHO

I'll try it tonight with my Canon SLR wire USB connect direct to camera and let you all know what I get. It's always worked well with my iPad and I just hate having to bluetooth sync pictures accross platforms.

I was so happy when I found out about this tweak. I had been looking for something to do this for over a year. I wanted to lead SD card pictures so I went and bought the ipad connection kit and the tweak but nothing

Please let us know how it's going, even if you get stuck and aren't able to make any significant progress anymore.
This is one of the few "killer tweaks" I've been itching for, since the ios5 betas.
If you would consider posting the source (on SVN or something) that would be fabulous,
for people who want to know as much "how it works" as seeing it work.

It's just slightly weird to see this tweak show up,
with the reported problems and without having heard from you before.

Hi, I found that CameraConnector works with a standard USB to Midi lead for my electronic piano. You can record and playback using the free Yamaha app Piano Diary. App Midi Monitor also works.

I had no trouble downloading hundreds of pictures from my Transcend Class 10 SD card to my iPad 2 in Tibet last Fall. Just purchased this tweak, and it does not work on my iPhone 4.

for the process to be steadfast, your gadget needs to be powered constantly to avoid frustrations. therefore the iphone charging system must be upfront!!

What exactly does "iphone charging system must be upfront!!" mean?
