Apple’s recently released Mac operating system, OS X 10.8 Mountain Lion, has been downloaded more than 3 million times in the first four days of its release. The Cupertino California company announced the stats earlier this morning, stating the following:
Just a year after the incredibly successful introduction of Lion, customers have downloaded Mountain Lion over three million times in just four days, making it our most successful release ever.
The first sign of success for the platform was released on Friday when Chitika Insights revealed that Mountain Lion accounted for 3.2% of all Mac web traffic just 48 hours after being available on the Mac App Store. In just two days, the total usage of Mountain Lion tracked on the web neared that of Mac OS X 10.4 Tiger as a whole.
The success is being attributed to the number of features the software comes packed with along with the attractive price point of $19.99. Additionally, for those of you who bought a new Mac after June 11, you are eligible to upgrade to Mountain Lion at no cost.
