With production of the 6th generation iPhone reportedly now underway, we are beginning to hear exponentially more chatter about corresponding accessories for the forthcoming iPhone refresh. First thing Monday morning, in fact, came a hint from the supply chain that Apple is tinkering with two or possibly more new iPhone cases - one of which will be unlike anything Apple has formally backed before.
A highly reliable source claims that one of the cases "is very similar to the Bumper released for the iPhone 4," and is a "lock" for release this fall. The source tells iLounge that the second prototype represents a stark contrast to other cases we've seen before. If the source is correct, this fresh design "will have a major impact on the accessory market if released,"
It is rumored but not yet visually confirmed through a leaked image or an official Apple source that the new iPhone case may provide a stand for the iPhone. If so, this added case feature would, without question, shake up the accessory market somewhat significantly.
For now, no additional information on the cases have come to light, but there's a good chance Apple will unveil the products in question when the new iPhone is launched, most likely during a September-October time frame.
