Since the Apple App Store was born and the "free" category was unveiled, countless iOS device users have balked at the need to enter an Apple ID password before the no-cost mobile app is downloaded. While the safeguard of password protection for paid apps makes sense for obvious reasons, the requirement of password entry before free apps can be downloaded will soon go by the wayside.
As the developer community digs deeper into iOS 6 beta, more telling revelations are coming to the surface, the latest of which reflects the finding discussed above. When iOS 6 rolls out, users won't ever have to enter their Apple ID password before downloading a free app again.
While there is a chance that this option won't make it out of beta, the devs I have spoken with believe that this discovery will stay put when the refreshed operating system rolls out this fall in conjunction with the new, 6th-generation iPhone.
What appears to remain in tact, however, is the 15-minute buying window for paid apps once the user enters his or her Apple password ID. In other words, if you go on a paid app buying spree, you will only need to enter your password once if all the purchases take place within 15 minutes.
