  • Greenpois0n to Serve Up iPad Jailbreak?

Within the last few hours, the blogosphere has lit up with reports about jailbreak software for the iPad. Since Apple announced the tablet, the jailbreak community has been entertaining the jailbreak potential of the iPad. p0sixninja of the Chronic Dev Team has now presented a Greenpois0n screenshot that purportedly shows the arrival of support for jailbreaking the iPad.

The Team is poised and ready to jailbreak the tablet as soon as they get their hands on one in a few weeks. p0sixninja has already begun tweeting what amounts to a fundraising campaign in order to obtain an iPad so the experimentation can begin.

if I had a job I would pay out of my own pocket. but iphone exploit hunting fulltime doesn't exactly pay well (at all)
While it sounds like a slam dunk jailbreak certainty, if and how the iPad can be hacked still depends on a number of factors, like the yet to be determined exploits. But despite the increasing challenges behind jailbreaking firmware, Apple's iPad will likely be far from impenetrable. And the jailbreak community is naturally stoked about the potential of a jailbroken iPad. We already know Cydia developers are chomping at the bit to dig in on the iPad and their opportunity to do so seems to be closer now than ever.

For now, all signs point to an Pad jailbreak for OS 3.2 coming very, very soon, and likely with the assistance of GreenPois0n.

This is fake. They took money for the IPT and never released anything. iPad won't be any different. Donate AFTER they actually release something.

      i think so too.

but the iPad jailbreak will come. and when it does, I'll be waiting. it's the only thing that would make an iPad worth the price.

That is a screenshot of an iphone, not an ipad.

Messany, do you want me to proofread your announcements from now on?

I'm sorry but you all are very uninformed. Greenpois0n is legit. The reason stuff hasn't been released from them is that their exploits and code have been used in other jailbreak tools. Read the iphone wiki to see more of what the chronic dev team has done. The exploit that was used in blackra1n for the 3GS was originally going to be used in greenpois0n but there was no point of releasing it after geohot used the exploit in blackra1n.

And to people who say donate after they release something, well that is fine to do but it is more helpful for them to actually have a device in their hands to work on. The reality is most of these hackers are young people that don't have a lot of money but we all expect them to go out and purchase a device then rip it apart.

The new 3gs and itouch3g are at the mercy of the ipad. nothing new will be released until the ipad has been pwned - posixninja
Nothing will be released for the newer 3GS and ipt3g except with the new iPhone 4 or with the iPad. I would imagine that the security in the iPad will be utilized in the new iPhone also. Even if you hate the iPad and could care less about a jailbreak for it, it would be in your best interest to cheer on a iPad jailbreak.

Again, greenpois0n is not vaporware. And the chronic dev team is very much legit. I have donated money to them and I urge you to throw a few bucks their way.

I mean, this is what happens to PCs all the time. You've seen the popup ads: "248 errors detected on your system!! Click OK to fix!!" It's a security measure, and since it's a cell phone and not a personal computer (which HAS to be open), they can. Still confused? Imagine if advertisement corporations had the ability to make "toolbars" like Internet Explorer is famous for.

      In short,
Wow, that's why so many other phones (Windows Mobile, Android, Blackberry) have so many problems right..

Being locked down does NOT improve security, idiot.

dude, the majority of smart phones will get the viruses. the iphone is the first smartphone to have a huge majority appeal, and it will be targeted.

if you really don't know, there actually IS a virus for the iphone. it dosen't do much, but it does exist.

don't try to get all b*thcy if the guy is right.

Really ChronicDev released an exploit, this could have crippled the whole jailbreaking community

No it wouldn't have, lmao. The problem is they felt this need to show people like you who call them fake that they are indeed legit. When an exploit is found and shared among the devs, some how they always get the short end of the stick when it comes to credit.

Im pretty sure devs have exploits but don't want to show their hand until fw4.0 . We all know 3.1.3 was to catch them out before the big update. But they haven't bitten

      ^OK,

The exploit that was used in blackra1n for the 3GS was originally going to be used in greenpois0n but there was no point of releasing it after geohot used the exploit in blackra1n.
but they pissed off Geohot who found that exploit and nearly gave up on creating a jailbreak, I'm glad GeoHot released but where was the ChronicDev Teams release, the iPhoneDev team release even if there is a competitor so why didn't they, I'm not saying their fake, just no real signs of them doing anything apart from releasing other peoples exploits and clamming they found them

Edit: I searched the link you gave, iPhone Wiki I don't see anything they have done(I'm probably missing it as it's 3.51 in the morning here)

chronic dev found that exploit and decided against releasing a tool that would be very close to what blackra1n was. geohot beat them to releasing a tool and then they chose to let it go. They would prefer to release a more polished jailbreak tool instead of releasing RC1, RC2, RC3, RC4. blackra1n RC1 was rushed so that it would be the first, and that is all.

They are real. We have been here before in 2007. Just sit back and watch. I remember hacking Lotus 123 install floppy disk with a laser hole in it. Look for the bad sector (grin) There has always been a war with software and hackers. We win a few, they win a few. All you have to do is wait. It's that USB dongle crap that's getting tough on breaking them.

@stealth just like this fake devTeam you haven't shown anything to back up the claims. They are a fake and MN called them out in it too. You just bought them a ipad that you won't see anything from just like the IPT. I'll put money on it that the real DevTeam will release a JB and you won't see anything from greenPee except teaser tweets that never go anywhere.

They couldn't even hack an ipad into there teaser pic lol. It's an iPhone FTLOG

      k. Why don't you read MN's tweet anyways? He isn't calling them fake. He doesn't believe in taking donations so he believes nobody else should take them either. I honestly can't believe that any person would go through all the trouble to jailbreak the idevices when there are so many ungrateful nubs like yourself.

The teaser is for greenpois0n not an iPad jailbreak.

      greenpois0n is for all devices...

Thanks! I just get annoyed because I talk to these guys everyday and I see a lot of the hardwork these devs go through. There have been some fakes teams out there but they are certainly not one of them.
