Finding important information on your iOS device is made a hassle by Apple’s simplistic and clean interface. Since they like keeping things tidy, it is often hidden deep within preference pane cells in the Settings application rather than in front of your face in the sleek home screen design. Some information isn't even shown at all – such as your memory usage. A new free jailbreak tweak called InfoPage by iOS developer q0rtex is now in Cydia and allows you to put useful information right on your home screen.
The tweak is pictured above with what it actually does. It pushes your home screen icons down slightly to make room for a line of text that can be customized to say whatever you would like it to. The tweak also comes with a preferences pane where you can adjust that text:

Apart from the option to enable and disable the tweak on demand, you can also choose for the text to display any of the following items:
- Any string of text that you would like (great for customization)
- Your current IP address
- The current date
- Your current amount of free RAM (memory)
- The page number of the page you are currently on
Since the tweak is only operating on the home screen, the application icons being pressed down a little bit to make room for the string of text won’t affect your ability to use applications like the tethering bar can. The information that it displays can be very useful if used creatively since you don't have to toggle any interfaces to get to it – it sits on the home screen, but the ability to add any line of text that you would like is also a great way to add customization to your home screen – like giving your home screen a title.
Because of the way the text appears, you are going to want to be using a darker wallpaper. The drop shadow appears from the top of the text rather than at the bottom like the application icon labels. In some sense, this might offer what feels like inconsistency, but with a darker wallpaper like the one shown above, it’s hardly noticeable.
As a free tweak, it's worth trying out. You won't have to respring after every change that you make either, which is a nice touch.
