Adobe Acknowledges InDesign Having Problems With New MacBook Pros and Macbook Airs
Adobe has finally officially acknowledged new MacBook Pros and MacBook Airs have an issue with InDesign causing the program to crash.
The issue, documented in an ever-growing Abobe forum thread, appears to be limited to users running InDesign on MacBopok Pros and MacBook Airs that feature the new Ivy Bridge processors and OS X 10.7.4. The problem appears to be a change Apple made in OS X 10.7.4, and with the only solution being for owners to “roll back” their OS to a previous version. However, this is inherently more difficult for new MBP and MBA owners as their comps ship with 10.7.4.
Adobe still hasn’t explained why the problem, which involves Apple removing and API, is only limited to new MBP and MBA users running OS X 10.7.4 and not those running older models. Users running into problems have been able to pinpoint the functions in InDesign that cause the program to crash which include trying to delete a page that has content and packaging a file. The problem occurs in both CS5 and CS 6.
Forum members have had success beating the problem by restoring their 2012 MBP to factory settings and not installing the “MacBook Pro (Mid 2012) Software Update.”
