It looks like the rumor mill was off by a week. According to an announcement made directly by the Cupertino, California-based tech giant Tuesday morning, Apple's third-generation iPad will (finally) arrive in China next Friday.

In recent days, a wave of reports had indicated that Apple would formally roll out the new iPad inside of the world's most populous mobile community on July 27th. Following months of unanticipated and unknown delays, many believe that Apple's recent settlement with Proview over the iPad trademark was the final hurdle that needed to be jumped before the tablet could be released to consumers.

Beginning next Friday, the new iPad will be available for purchase at the six official Apple stores in China and at Suning electronics, a prominent Chinese consumer electronics retailer with stores all across the nation.

As of this writing, it is not believed that the 4G model of the new iPad will be released in China.
