Trying to find information about your iOS device can be difficult in Apple’s ecosystem. IP addresses are buried in the Settings application, RAM information is never shown, and music information is hidden in the App Switcher or the Music application. A new widget dubbed NCInfo for Notification Center by iOS developer Lays attempts to bring all of the information you want to have all together inside of Notification Center.
As shown above, the widget is straightforward, bringing you various types of information about your iOS device, row by row. All of this information is customizable from the preferences pane, where you will be able to hide and show the elements you want, as well as opt to have the widget background or not, and also change positioning and colors of the text around to your liking. The preferences pane for NCInfo is shown below:
The first section, labeled Widget Settings, allows you to choose whether or not you want to have the widget background behind your device information (see first screenshot set), adjust the height of the widget to fit all your information that you chose to show, and finally customize your refresh intervals for the information displayed.
The second section, labeled Label Text, allows you to change around the elements inside your widget. You can choose to have the text aligned from the left, center, or the right. Unfortunately, adjusting your widget elements is 100% manual at this point in time. You will have to build the elements using the codes shown below:
To get the same look as the widget we have shown you above, you can copy and paste the text below into the text field in the preferences pane, or you can make it look however you want to by typing in the codes the way you want it to appear. Note that the data option only applies to cellular-enabled devices.
Mem: %m MB\nWi-Fi IP: %wi\nCellular Data IP: %di\nDate: %dy %dm %dd\nTime: %th %tm %ts\nSong Name: %np\nAlbum Name: %npa\nArtist Name: %nps
The fourth and fifth sections, labeled Font Size and Font Color, allow you to change the size and color of the text that appears inside of the widget. To change either of these, you will need to enable the features with the switches provided and then adjust the sliders to your liking. The color option has three different sliders for red, green, and blue values.
After you have set everything to your liking, you will have a simplistic widget that can show you the important information about your device including time, date, music information, memory information, and IP address information. The good news is that settings from the preferences pane can be adjusted on the fly without a respring to save your changes, so feel free to get your hands dirty with the options and find something that fits you!
The developer has plans to try and design an easier interface for customizing the elements inside of the widget without the need to type out codes to enable and disable them. There is no estimated time of arrival for this release yet. If you have been looking for a widget like this, NCInfo will certainly get the job done. Check it out!
