The popular online streaming music service that grew out of the Music Genome Project in January of 2000, Pandora, has recently updated. The updated version comes with several new features and a nice face lift to add to the mix.
One of the key features in Pandora is the “Thumbs Up/Thumbs Down” mechanic that allows users to get control over what type of music gets played in the mix. With the new update, you don’t have to hit the thumbs up button while the current song is playing. Similar to the way it is in the web app, you can see your song history and have the option of swiping left and right to move within it. This gives you the ability to customize your music stations to a much higher degree while on the go with your mobile iOS device.
The iPhone app now also provides lyrics! Users can tap the square icon in the upper right from the Now Playing screen and Pandora will drop the lyrics for the currently playing underneath the album archive area. Users can also access bookmarked songs and artists from the iPhone app now, with the feature being accessible from the station list screen. Users can tap on Bookmarks to preview, purchase, or create a station from your favorites. Furthermore, you can tell Pandora to stop playing tracks over and over again. Tapping the new triangle between the thumb buttons and then tapping “I’m tired of this track” allows you to do just that. This feature doesn’t remove the song from your station’s genome but it lays off the overplaying of the certain chosen song for a while.
Overall, the updated includes some much needed additions to an app that was already pretty fantastic. If you are an avid music aficionado and use this app, try out the updated version, you won’t be disappointed.
