A new, extremely difficult and warranty voiding mod eliminates the need for a charging case to wireless charge your iPhone. Apple, please build this into the next iPhone.
*Before reading any further, this mod voids your iPhone warranty, and is not for the faint of heart, or inexperience iDevice tinkerer. Nor is it cheap.*
Normally wireless charging solutions require a case in addition to a charging mat, but Tanveer (doctor by day, modder by night) eliminated the need for a case during the wireless charging process. Tanveer took apart a wireless charging case for the iPhone, and purchased a spare iPhone back panel, spare charger port assembly, and some very thin wire gauge.
The video below details the extensive process below which includes the need for some serious soldering skills in order to modify the spare rear panel. The modification does add some thickness to the iPhone, but it appears to be barely noticeable.
This is a difficult, awesome, and expensive mod. If your dare do it, watch the video below, and make sure you know what the Dutch a soldering gun is.
