No Confirmation of Early Apple Store Hours Tuesday
Reports surfaced Monday that Apple stores may open as much as one hour earlier than usual on Tuesday to accommodate shoppers who haven't yet been able to purchase the presently sold-out iPad 2. Despite no confirmation from Apple, it has been widely reported that Apple stores are receiving major shipments of the iPad 2 this evening and, as a result, will have their employees report to work extra early Tuesday morning.
Calls to more than a dozen Apple stores around the US failed to confirm this report, although some of the Apple store employees I spoke with - like one sales representative from the Knox Street Apple Store in Dallas, Texas - reiterated that their store opens at 8:00 am, much earlier than the 10:00 am opening hours of most Apple stores. It is possible that stores with later opening hours may unlock the doors at 9:00 am instead. However, the Lincoln Park Apple Store (one I visit regularly) located at 801 W North Ave, Chicago, Illinois opens at 9:00 am weekdays but similarly denies that early hours are planned for Tuesday.
While it does appear that huge iPad 2 shipments are definitely inbound tonight, there's no telling where the goods will end up. So if, in fact, any Apple Stores will open early tomorrow, we likely won't know which ones until later tonight - if at all. I will update this report with any additional information I discover as the day passes.
