Apple Reportedly Working on New iTunes For Release Later This Year
Apple is reportedly working on a major overhaul of its iTunes Music Store slated to reach consumers later this year according to Bloomberg.
The new iTunes will feature deeper integration with iCloud so customer’s can “more seemlessly access” their content sources familiar with the matter told Bloomberg. Additionally the new iTunes will likely help users keep track of their files across a number of devices and include “changes to how users find new material and how they access what they already own on different Apple devices.”
New music features like the ability to send music to friends and other users will be included in the new version of iTunes. Ping, Apple’s forray into creating a more social music atmosphere, will reportedly be dropped with the next version of iTunes in favor of other social elements.
Rumors of labels requesting Apple to include their own subscription service a la Spotify, have popped up, but according to Bloomberg’s sources it’s unlikely Apple will institute such a service.
Apple’s iTunes hasn’t seen a substantial update in eons. Hopefully the results are worth the wait.
