  • Safari Download Manager Now iOS 5 Compatible

Safari Download Manager, the long-awaited download manager for jailbroken devices that gives Mobile Safari the ability to download and save files to the file system, is now iOS 5 compatible as of version 2.0. The developer, Dustin Howett, has been working on the update from as far back as the introduction of iOS 5. The hard work has certainly come far as Safari Download manager will work on every iOS device, on every iOS 5 firmware release so long as you are jailbroken.

The download manager sees some changes to its user interface, which are for the better. The new interface beautifully shows you where your download path is and the name of the file you are about to download before prompting you whether you’re sure you want to download the file or just cancel the download. Once you tap download, the manager gets to work and you can see the downloads in real-time with the loading bars – from here you can exit the interface with the done button or simply cancel all downloads if that is your desire.

Once a download finishes, you will see a prompt with several options including:
    • Delete
    • Open in iBooks
    • Open in Kindle
    • Open in iFile
    • Open in Dropbox

Safari Download Manager is one of the best jailbreak tweaks ever make for the iOS platform. This is not to be taken lightly. The download manager adds functionality to the iOS operating system, which when paired with a file browser such as iFile, can make the mobile device almost as useful as a personal computer in terms of file management. It gives you the ability to manage files and store them, even to transfer them to another machine if necessary.

Safari Download Manager 2.0 for iOS 5 devices can be downloaded right now from Cydia. It is located in the BigBoss repository for $5.

$5 after already purchasing it and waiting a year for support? Not no, but HELL no! I'll go with your free competition, who somehow managed to support iOS5, on time for free.

That's incorrect because if you purchased it in the past it won't require you to repurchase.

Nope. Im still correct. I purchased it through Rock. And it was $2 back then. It isn't in my installable packages in Cydia. Even if I could, I still don't excuse being 10 months late. Luckily, there are and have been free alternatives. If you're gonna compete with free, you'd damn sure better be on time.

Oh so since you installed through Rock did you attempt to try an see if when you sign into your Cydia Account and scroll to the bottom of your purchased packages there is a link to a Rock sign-in(to transfer purchases). Not sure if that still works but maybe you can try that.

It's iOS 6-compatible. So there is no waiting.

SDM was never sold via Rock... I declined to make a sales deal with Mario. That said, if you owned it before, I'd be glad to honour that with a license.
I'm sorry about the delay - I've written a long-winded apology on reddit (yeah yeah :P) - and I do realize that there are alternatives.
I'd like to compete on features - and to be fair, free was competing with me (as SDM predates SDE by nearly two years :P).

I've redoubled my efforts and all I can give you is my word that I won't let updates get out of hand like this again. It was a misjudgement and a miscalculation. I'm sorry.
