In what could become another middle-of-the-night Internet feeding frenzy, online orders for the new iPad 2 will begin overnight, says Apple. If you don't want to battle the crowds (assuming, of course, that there will be crowds) at your preferred iPad 2-carrying retailer, you can order the refreshed tablet from home at least twelve hours before the 5:00 pm launch of iPad 2 sales at phsyical stores tomorrow.
Apple says online ordering will commence overnight at 1:00 am Pacific and 4:00 am Eastern. But if the delay of shipping is too much to bear (or because you want in-store setup), you'll still have 236 Apple retail stores in the US to choose from if you must have an iPad 2 in your hands by this weekend. Also joining the retail roll out tomorrow will be AT&T, Verizon Wireless, Best Buy, Target, and Walmart.
The international arrival of the iPad 2 remains on track for later this month. According to Apple, on March 25th, the 2nd generation iPad will arrive in Australia, Austria, Belgium, Canada, Czech Republic, Denmark, Finland, France, Germany, Greece, Hungary, Iceland, Ireland, Italy, Japan, Luxembourg, Mexico, Netherlands, New Zealand, Norway, Poland, Portugal, Spain, Sweden, Switzerland and the UK.
