  • Report: iOS 6 to Deliver Siri to iPad

Is Siri just weeks away from arriving on the iPad?

According to a new report published Monday, the answer is yes. As we know, the popular voice recognition software debuted last fall with the release of the iPhone 4S (with "S" representing Siri). But with the exception of the voice dictation feature hitting the new iPad earlier this year, Siri hasn't truly arrived in full on the hottest tablet in town.

But if sources in the know are correct in their latest information leak, the revelation of iOS 6 at Apple's WWDC next week will change all of that. At least that's the news out of our friends at 9to5Mac who spilled the beans this morning on their newly acquired morsel of information.

"Apple has been testing iOS 6′s Siri for iPad feature on both the current generation iPad (third generation), and last year’s iPad 2," the report reads. "It is unconfirmed, however, if Siri for iPad will actually launch as an exclusive to the latest Retina Display model, but multiple sources say that this is likely the case."

As of this writing, it isn't believed that WWDC will provide a stage for new Apple product releases. Analogous to last year's event, WWDC 2012 will be all about software and the performance improvements delivered to current and future Apple hardware.

Siri better come to iPad 2! No reason not to as its hardware is the same as iPhone 4S.

They've just been holding back Siri so they can upgrade there servers since they used to hardly be capable of handling the 4s

I believe Siri will be coming to iPad 2 and 3, A4 devices are very unlikely in my opinion seeing as A4 rolls back to devices such as 3GS, and I don't think some will be able to handle it

Apple should make Siri an optional update that those who want it can pay for it! And stop being so stupid with oh it can only work on certain new phone/iPads when really it can work on iPhone 4 and above!

As much as I'd love for this to happen... This would take a very long time for a jailbreak to accumulate...

I thought the same...Siri is definitely worth it. You have to use it to see the value. If I had never broken my 4, I would not have upgraded to 4S and would still be thinking that Siri is not worth it. Just my opinion

I agree 2k1, Siri is not worth it for me not to have a jailbreak. Too many JB tweaks I utilize lol.

Wish Apple would allow Siri on iP4 though I'll have my iP4 for a while even after the new iPhone is released...because I have to figure out if I want to switch carriers since Verizon wants to cut unlimited data if customers want to upgrade to a 4G phone with discounted pricing.

Technically the iPad could run it a little faster since the iPhone 4s is underclocked.

Has there ever been an upgrade to a new IOS without it coming with a new iDevice? I am talking about "X.0s". (example 3.0, 4.0, 5.0 etc) I dont follow it like a hawk or anything. But dont all IOS "X.0s" get released with new iPhone models?

My expectation of an iPhone 5 release in June just went from 10% to 20%. While thats still a small possibility, I seems a bit more plausible if the new IOS is truly to be revealed next week.

Would they really release IOS6 around 4 months before a new iPhone? REALLY? Then all they would have to show off in October is a slightly larger screen for the iPhone. Or would the new iPhone come with IOS7? Highly unlikely.

I am looking for a June Surprise. If that doesnt happen, oh well. October isnt far away.
