If you are one to enjoy a lot of customization for your iOS device, then a new jailbreak tweak dubbed Unlockize by iOS developer John Coates is one that you will not want to miss out on. The tweak basically gives you the ability to change the unlock animation via a preferences pane in the Settings application. There are six animations in total and all of them look great while in action. Additionally, the tweak doesn't just make you pick one of them at a time...
That’s right. You can pick more than one animation at a time. Unlockize allows you to select any of them that you want to, however the unlock animation will cycle through all of the animations you have selected automatically. For instance, after enabling both the fold animation and the fade animation, the first unlock will use the fold animation and then the next time you unlock your iOS device it will use the fade animation since fold comes first in the list from the Settings application (shown below).
What’s great about the ability to change between animations is that it gives you a sense of opening something new each time. Comparatively, the normal slide to unlock animation is just boring and you see the same animation every time you unlock your iOS device. The list of great animations never bores you and they’re all graphically smooth without causing lagging, black screens, or extreme memory usage.
From the preferences pane, you can enable and disable the tweak on demand by using the switch labeled, “Unlockize.” Apart from that, you can enable and disable different unlock animations. This is the entire basis of the tweak, being clean and simple without any other confusing settings. If the animations from the first screenshot set aren't clear to you, the list of animations you can use include:
- fold to unlock
- slice to unlock
- fade to unlock
- open blinds (tall)
- open blinds (wide)
- checker to unlock
Even though the animation changes, the ‘slide to unlock’ text does not. It still says slide to unlock since you are still technically sliding to unlock the iOS device. If you like changing the way Apple makes you do things, then Unlockize is a great tweak for you to grab. It doesn’t appear to have any conflicts with most lock screen tweaks.
