iOS' slide to unlock feature has been nice while it lasted, but it’s time to bring some new unlocking animations to iOS. A really nice, new animation can be found for free in Cydia today, dubbed Unfold by iOS developer Jonas Gessner. The tweak will make it so you can fold your lock screen and see all of SpringBoard’s contents under the unfolding animation. The animation is smooth and beautiful and works with any iOS 5 devices except for the iPad, however the developer hints via Cydia that iPad support could be on the horizon.
Unfold does completely away with the slide to unlock bar, and replaces it with just an arrow followed by text saying, “fold to unlock.” Swiping along the text will begin the unfold animation, and you can drag it back to its original position to cancel the unlocking of iOS. Unfold works completely with lock screen tweaks such as Ori Kadosh’s Camera Grabber for iOS 5 and also Intelliborn’s IntelliScreenX.

If you are using a pass code for iOS, the animation will display a pass code input screen under the fold instead of your SpringBoard. This is good since it doesn't mess with the animation of the tweak and it continues to have the security you would expect from iOS. The tweak works either when applications are open or when you are on your home screen, as whatever you have opened will appear under the fold as the animation takes place.
The tweak doesn’t have any options to configure as installing it will immediately put the animation into effect. The only way to discontinue the animation is by uninstalling the tweak. Since Unfold is a free jailbreak tweak and the animation is just drop-dead gorgeous, we would have to recommend this tweak for anyone that likes adding a little bit of style to their iOS device.
