  • Sources Claim Apple is Preparing iPhones with Bigger Screens

According to Bloomberg, Apple is set to introduce a new iPhone with a larger screen and an overhaul design that Steve Jobs “worked closely on” before passing away.

According to people who are familiar with Apple’s plans, it appears the Cupertino California company has ordered screens from suppliers that are “bigger than the 3.5-inch size” that the iPhone has been sporting since its debut in 2007.” The report noted that “Apple co-founder Steve Jobs had worked closely on the redesigned phone before his death in October” and another source claimed that Jobs had played a “key role in developing” Apple’s next-generation iPhone.

If Apple was to perform a major redesign of the iPhone, it would be the device’s first re-design since the iPhone 4 arrived in mid-2010. The previous design found incorporated into the iPhone 3G and iPhone 3GS, was also kept for two years before the current form factor was introduced. With three mainstream media outlets reporting similar claims in the same week, the likelihood that Apple will expand the screen on its best-selling handset appear to be high. Previous reports indicated that LG Display, Sharp, and Japan Display are al readying production lines for 4-inch displays bound for Apple’s next-generation iPhone. Furthermore, according to a report from Reuters, the production of the new screens could begin as soon as next month, ahead of full production of the next-generation iPhone in August.

Analysts have suggested that Apple’s interest in a larger-screen iPhone comes in response to pressure from increasing screen sizes offering by competing Android handsets. The next-generation iPhone is widely expected to hit the market in the fall, roughly one year after the sale of the iPhone 4S. We’ll have to wait and see how much truth there is to the information by being patient.

I still have my 2G iphone sleeping in perfect shape in its original box, simply one of the most beautiful designs ever,I got it back in December of 2007 mainly for the reason that at that time it was the phone with the bigeest screen !! yes even larger than my PDA2K's.However when the 4.3" HD2 came out, beeing myself a large screen fan jumped to grab one,After that got the Iphone 4 while waiting for the rumored Iphone 5 with a biger screen, something never happened,
Fast forward, the Galaxy Note was announced, and when the Iphone 4S released I gave my Iphone 4 to my wife and got the Galaxy Note, should say that it is one of the most amazing devices I have ever used,
However I love Iphone,so waiting to see if this rumor will turn out to be true to get myself one.

The Note? To big to be a phone and to small to be a tablet.
I remember when all SmartPhones needed a stylus.
      Luckily things have moved on...

Rolls Royce don't make SUVs' and they're still being made. Just sayin android just may have the market between a tablet and cell phone covered especially for those that don't want to buy two different devices, for what ever reason. The current iPhone size is perfect for me...jus sayN

The current iPhone size was fine four years ago.
There's no excuse for it being so small in 2012.
Apple, ditch the 3.5-incher and go straight to 4.7"
They should know that it doesn't matter what they produce, because their fanboys will automatically bow in homage to the new device.
Some people are so rigid and dogmatically irrational that the only way they can be introduced to anything new is by force.

Some people want a Smartphone, not a mini tablet.

      Don't be stupid - 4.7" is not a mini-tablet.

Not many people call me stupid....

4.7" is far to big to be used as a phone.

When the argument is lost and you're out of ammo, it only remains to throw your weapon at the enemy (call them a troll).
I'll take that as an ungracious bowing out of the debate.
Thankyou and have a nice day.

I hope not >.> iPhones are going to start looking like Android. You know once that happens, Apple's going to get a lawsuit over infringement

Apple has to compete with Samsung, which has been offering displays as big as 4.8", so bigger display in iphone 5 in inevitable.

      Why?

If you want a bigger screen, buy a Samsung.

If you want a phone, buy an iPhone.
