GameStop currently offers the ability to trade in, buy, or sell iOS devices in-store. The big question being, “When are they going to do this for Macs?” Some screenshots from their computer systems appear to illustrate evidence for trading in, buying, and selling MacBook computers in the future. This find is not necessarily set in stone, but it is understandably possible.
None of the MacBook computers pictured above are necessarily new, which is strange because the newer MacBook models would hold the highest value on the market compared to the older ones, which house slower processers and smaller storage space. The newer MacBooks hold the newest processors, larger storage options, and even Thunderbolt technology. That being said, it seems like it would make sense for GameStop to include newer MacBooks in their market, however this could just be a side effect of their database not being complete yet.
MacBook computers have a very high resale value, which Apple seems to have set the marker for. From Apple’s Web site, you can sell back your Mac computer to them in their recycling program and they will offer a decent fraction of money for it. These prices are much higher when selling them on third party sites such as Ebay or Craigslist.
Since MacBook computers seem to hold their value pretty well even after years of use, it makes sense that GameStop might see value in offering a marketplace for them. The iOS device lineup isn’t necessarily considered a gaming platform by Apple, however it is the most popular way to play games on the market today, which is probably why GameStop took that opportunity up. Since a lot of iOS users are looking for Macs, it is possible GameStop could offer bundle deals.
