  • Cadillac Plans to Give Every 2013 XTS Buyer a New iPad

Cadillac debuted their new "Cadillac User Experience" infotainment control system last year at the CTIA mobile technology conference in San Diego. This year, in order to help new owners get acclimated with the CUE system they’re providing every 2013 Cadillac XTS buyer with a new iPad.

The iPad initiative is part of a larger effort by Cadillac to reaffirm itself as a leading luxury brand as well as introduce new buyers to the advantages of a wide range of new technologies in their vehicles. The initiative also includes a new owner-education program that requires every Cadillac dealership to have two “certified technology experts” on hand trained by 25 XTS tech pros circulating the country. The mission is to help new owners get the most out of the new CUE system.

Cadillac even has a dedicated CUE education and trouble shooting call center for customers. If the call center can’t help customers with their problem, the usual trip to the dealership won't be necessary as Cadillac will send a specialist to the customer's home.

The iPad each new XTS owner receives is a CUE educational tool as well. It comes with a number of preloaded apps including MyCadillac, OnStar RemoteLink, and an app that simulates the CUE experience on the iPad. The app allows new owners to familiarize themselves with the Cue system's features before they turn into distracted and frustrated drivers.

“We need to think about helping [owners] with the learning curve. Even if you get a walk-through at the dealership, you’re going to forget about a lot of the features. And we want the customer to learn about CUE on their own time,” — Mike Harland, head of Cadillac customer experience.
If you want a new iPad, need a new luxury sedan and have between $44,000 and $60,000 in expendable income the Cadillac XTS might be an enticing option. For the rest of us, we’re still busy pawning off our valuables in anticipation of Apple’s new MacBook Pro, iMac, and iPhone announcements.

Anyone else notice the picture shows an Android tablet and not an iPad.

It would probably make more sense for them to include an android tablet. That way they can at least create their own customized version that's best suited for their Cadillac owners. There's no chance of them doing that with an iPad.

Customized version of what? So they know exactly what widgets to have to satisfy everyone interested in a Cadillac?
