To all of you A5 and A5X device owners out there, we admire your patience and nerves of steel as you wait for a way to downgrade your iOS devices and have a stable way to jailbreak without the fear of losing it forever after every jailbreak tweak you install. On the other hand, A4 devices have had a pretty stable way to downgrade and rejailbreak at their leisure.
The good news is, we all should finally be able to relax. According to MuscleNerd (Tweet shown below), a new version of redsn0w is on its way that will allow A5 and A5X devices to have their firmware downgraded. Sounds great right? Well, there’s a catch – you need to have the SHSH blobs saved for the firmware you want to downgrade to (remember when we told you to do that, just in case?). Additionally, the iPhone 4S and iPad 2 can be downgraded to iOS 5.0.1, however the new iPad can be downgraded only to iOS 5.1 because that is the firmware the new tablet was running as soon as it was released, meaning there is no possible older software to run on it.

MuscleNerd also clarifies in his Tweet that the downgrade method does not incorporate anything by iH8sn0w and that the new version of redsn0w will not create any legal issues. The new, upcoming redsn0w release will support the iPhone 4S, iPad 2, and the new iPad. There is no indication pointing to the fact that the new release of redsn0w will carry an untethered jailbreak for iOS 5.1 and iOS 5.1.1, however A4 devices can still enjoy a tethered jailbreak on either firmware. A5 and A5X devices do not have any jailbreak on either of those firmwares.
If you are one of the unlucky few that needed to restore their A5 device after attempting the jailbreak and installing a buggy tweak, then this news should be a burden off your shoulders. The only factor now is patience as we wait for the new release. Anyone with an A4 device will still be able to downgrade and rejailbreak as usual with the upcoming release of redsn0w. If you're an A5 device owner and haven't saved your SHSH blobs yet, we highly recommend that you do so you can take part in the new redsn0w release when it comes out.
Stay tuned and we will let you know when it's out!
