A new Cydia tweak that will allow iPhone users to get turn-by-turn voice navigation directly from Apple's native Google Maps app. This feature has been available for Android for quite some time, but iPhone users have been relying completely on third-party apps, some of which are quite expensive (but offer an extensive list of features.) Services such as MapQuest also offer turn-by-turn navigation, but having voice navigation built-in to the phone's native app would be a very nice addition for users.
The tweak is "coming soon" to the Cydia store. There's no word as to how much the app will cost. This feature is one of the most talked-about feature for operating systems such as android. Having this tweak would create yet another valuable reason to jailbreak your iPhone.
We can only hope that this tweak will only be a temporary solution. Hopefully Apple can bring this feature to iOS natively in a future software update. We'll just have to wait and see. For now, enjoy the preview video.
Wow, so someone is charging for a tweak for a feature that is free to Android users. Does anyone else remember when Cydia was free. Pretty much everything cool/useful is charged for now on there. Only stuff free is ****** 'themes', aka wallappers and maybe a few poorly made icons.
Hmm... I have very useful tweaks that i use that are free on cydia.
The concept of the tweak is a good one. However, if you want people to pay money for it, you need a much more professional video. Spell burrito correctly for christ's sake

Maybe you should learn to develop apps so we could have them for free. Shouldn't take you too many years...lol
I think a few dollars for something that's used every day is fine. Id rather pay for that then a stupid app like a game that I finish and its over.
I tried getting Cydia apps for free but decided to pay for the ones that proved to be useful in turning my phone in to a "REAL SMARTPHONE". Definitely smarter than any other phone on the market.
Ex: action menu pack plus
- lockscreen info
- irealsms
- iprotect
- sbsettings
- inspell

Great idea, but this really needs to be done natively by Apple. This tweak would have been great in 2008, but it's too little too late to be competitive to even the free nav apps.

It's never too late for competition if it's around the same price or lower than most navigation apps
Amazing, of course news drops right after I purchase Navigon lol. Oh well, I like the 3d views in Navigon. Finding things in google maps is a little easier though, I'll admit that!
--edit-- I do not see myself paying for this app. Mostly because I just purchased Navigon, but also because I'd hate to pay for this only to see Apple give it away in an upcoming SW release.
Fail. Google Maps downloads map data as it needs it. When driving in the boonies, or anywhere else with no coverage, it's useless. CoPilot has all map data stored on device, and it's only $8.00 for US map plus voice directions (win).
I wouldn't exactly call it a fail, but I understand what you're saying. I want all my maps stored on my phone rather than falling from the cloud...this is why I opted to buy Navigon for $40 rather than MotionX GPS for $0.99.
Still, all they're doing is improving an already existing app where locally storing maps is not an option. Now if they were announcing a completely new app that worked this way and charging the same as one of the dedicated GPS apps then it would be a fail.
I need help jailbreaking my ipod touch 4g 4.2.1 firmware model PC544LL can anyone help me thank you soo much
This isn't the place to ask.

Be happy it's $40 for you. Tom Tom Australia is $80 and people wonder why there are so much pirated software. I can't wait for this to come out.
Just like multitasking, which was a jailbreak-exclusive thing at the beginning. Knowing Apple, they will include this on the next major iOS update and take credit for it :P
