Rovio and 20th Century Fox have just released a trailer for a new Angry Birds flavor, titled Angry Birds Rio. According to the report, the game will be released for smartphones and tablets worldwide, including the iPhone, iPad, and iPod touch.
Angry Birds Rio is going to be released as a "crossover of Rovio's series with the upcoming film Rio," which, predictably, is a story about two birds Blu and Jewel, that "have to fight animal smugglers in Rio." The game will feature a plot that is sure to coincide with the film's. It seems like the companies have gone to great lengths to make the plot of the upcoming film coincide with one of the world's most popular gaming titles. The film will come from the creators of the Ice Age trilogy.
Angry Birds Rio is set to launch in March of 2011, and will feature 45 interactive levels at its launch. There's no word as to how much the game will cost , however, it will most likely be as much as the game's previous offerings, at or around $5.
Check out the press release for full details. Until then, we'll be salivating about yet another expansion of the ridiculously-high grossing, mostly phone and tablet game series, that was recently nominated as a Game of the Year candidate. We're excited about the new release, and can't help but be pumped for Rio.
