[Review] ncRAM - See Your Free RAM From Notification Center
Memory (RAM) is an important thing to know about, however Apple has a habit of keeping it concealed from our view both in terms of hardware and software. Some jailbreak applications such as IntelliScreenX and SBSettings give us the ability to view how much of our RAM is free at one given time. If you are not too keen on having all of those features on your iOS device and you just want a simple, free RAM indicator in Notification Center, then maybe you should take a look at a new Notification Center widget dubbed ncRAM for Notification Center
by iOS developer drewsdunne
NcRAM for Notification Centerhas a very crude appearance, which doesn’t really fit in with the sleek iOS look, however it gets the job done of displaying how many megabytes of your RAM is free at the moment you launch Notification Center. It is not capable of freeing up your memory – only displaying it.
The good news about ncRAM for Notification Center is that it can be heavily customized. From the preferences pane in the Settings application, you can find options for changing the size and color of the text using RBG (red, green, blue) sliders, the ability to adjust the height of the widget, and the ability to make the text (default “Available Mem:”) anything you want it to be. The refresh switch allows the RAM reading to be refreshed every time you launch Notification Center since it doesn’t offer real-time RAM readings.
While the preferences pane recommends using the tweak with either LockInfo or IntelliScreenX, it doesn’t make too much sense to use it with IntelliScreenX as IntelliScreenX already has a feature showing you how much free RAM you have. Like all Notification Center widgets, you can enable and disable this widget at any time by dragging it in and out of Notification Center from the Notifications preferences pane in the Settings application. It's free so give it a try.
