  • [Review] Forecast - Show the Weather On Your Lock Screen

If you are one of the many people thinking the iOS lock screen could be improved, then you would be correct. Some people enjoy the simplistic and clean user interface as it is when it’s stock, however there are also many who enjoy adding things to it to reduce the effort necessary to get information on the fly. A new jailbreak tweak dubbed Forecast by iOS developer Stimpy5050 will add a weather widget to your iOS lock screen, similar but not identical to the Notification Center version.

How does it differ? Unlike the Notification Center widget, Forecast displays the time and date in the widget. This is useful because it does replace the large clock dash from the lock screen. You can swipe side to side to switch between weekly or current weather views just like in Notification Center. It automatically uses your location to determine your local weather and you can refresh the weather manually using the refresh button under the temperature.

Using the backbone of Apple’s weather widget design, Forecast keeps good proportions on the lock screen. It looks like it was meant to be there and it is visually attractive just as it is functionally useful. This method of getting the weather widget on your lock screen is affordable (only 99˘) and is more practical than using IntelliScreenX or Bulletin to get the entire Notification Center on the lock screen. The speed is exceptional, offering no noticeable lag to the end user.

Forecast will automatically refresh the weather information every 15 minutes so you don’t have to worry about it being too far off on accuracy. Forecast has no options to configure. Installing it will automatically place the widget on your lock screen and you can start enjoying it immediately.

    Name: Forecast
    Price: 99˘
    Version: 1.2.0-2
    Requirements: iOS 5

I just update the new update today, and the forcast totally disappeared from the lock screen just like it never installed before. It was working fine before the update. Anyone know what happened?

Do you guys even test tweaks for a while before actually posting them on here or do you just post anything that is cool?

This tweak was really awesome in the beginning, until it STOPPED SHOWING ANYTHING on the lock screen. Oh, and then my screen wouldn't turn on after repeatedly hitting all buttons.

5/5 for idea, but this **** needs some work you guys.

Actually now if you use the iPod controls on the lockscreen and then unlock phone then lock the phone the lock screen is blank again.

Have you tried contacting the dev to check on it. Most devs are very good at support.
