  • Tim Cook Trying to Negotiate Legal Settlement with Samsung CEO

Talk about an interesting time to be a fly on the wall.

Like two heads of state meeting to negotiate peace talks and end a bloody war, Apple Chief Executive Officer Tim Cook is planning a tech summit of sorts with Samsung CEO Gee-Sung Choi. According to published reports Tuesday, the two titans of technology will sit down together in San Francisco to participate in "moderated settlement talks."

Interestingly enough, however, the meeting is generally scheduled to take place sometime within the next three months. "Within 90 days," reveals Foss Patents, "they will make another effort to settle their dispute. They will meet in a San Francisco courthouse for settlement talks that will be overseen by U.S. Magistrate Judge Joseph C. Spero."

If it strikes you as positive news that both sides want to meet and amicably resolve the dispute, think again. This settlement effort, we're told, is only "semi-voluntary." Judge Lucy Koh ordered the parties to "comment on their availability for an Alternative Dispute Resolution (ADR) effort."
In this situation, they both had to be cooperative: if only one of them had made the CEO available, the other one would have appeared to be less than constructive.
So are Apple and Samsung any closer to reaching a settlement? That answer still couldn't possibly be any foggier.

Though they were asked to meet, it is more like ordered to meet.
Why CEO? Why not representative or head of Samsung USA?
If 1 CEO do not show up that company will be seen as uncooperative which means Judge would lean toward the one with CEO showing up, conisider Apple is not far from San Francisco and Samsung CEO is in Korea...

You think that is possible? Samsung relies on Apple for R&D and a direction. If they don't have that what are the going to make?

Samsung is an emulator, never was an innovator. Name one Samsung original product.

And Jobs had Sony, from the first Walkman Jobs received from Sony we have iPod and everything after that.
I don't see why Samsung can not replace Apple
