Apple and News Corp to Announce 'The Daily' on February 2nd
It looks like Apple and News Corp have finally set a date to launch 'The Daily.' The Loop is reporting that the two companies have begun sending out invitations to a Media Event, Wednesday February 2 at 11:00 AM EST in New York City. The Event will be held in the famous Guggenheim Museum on 5th Ave in New York City. The invitation also states the presentation will come from News Corporation Chairman and CEO Rupert Murdoch and Apple's Vice President of Internet Services, Eddy Cue.
It had previously been reported that the two companies were set to announce 'The Daily' some time last month
, but complications caused Apple and News Corp to delay the announcement. There's a possibility this delay may have have had something to do with Steve Jobs' medical leave
, although when the delay was reported, it seemed like Apple may have possibly been too controlling
in the process of creating the subscription service for 'The Daily'.
It now looks like the day has been officially set. It has been long rumored that 'The Daily' will launch with a subscription service likely to be priced at 99 cents per week. Apple has reportedly been working with Murdoch to create specific content to work with iOS, specifically supporting recurring billing directly via iTunes.
