[Review] SliderWidth - Change the Width of Your Slide to Unlock Bar
The slide to unlock bar on the iOS lock screen is set to be a certain width, however with a new free jailbreak tweak dubbed SliderWidth
by iOS developer rvirajm
, you can change the width of the slider to almost anything you want Ė assuming the width you want fits on the screen. SliderWidth is compatible with iPhone, iPod touch, and iPad
SliderWidth has a preferences pane in the Settings application after the tweak is installed. It not only allows you to adjust the width of the slider, but it also allows you to change the text in the slider. The options will also go beyond the iOS keyboard text, allowing you to place an Apple logo in the slider text if you prefer it that way. The preferences pane is shown below:
The preferences pane has two separate sections Ė one for the iPhone and iPod touch, then another section for the iPad. If youíre using a specific device, itís not recommended you enable the part of the tweak made for a different device. The sliders under the enable switches adjust how wide the slider will be. The larger the number, the narrower the slide to unlock bar will be. The smaller the number, the wider the slide to unlock bar will be.
For this tweak to work properly, it is recommended that you donít have Camera Grabber for iOS 5 installed as it will conflict and cause this tweak not to work. The developer also recommends that you disable the camera grabber for iOS 5.1 and the camera button for iOS 5.0.1 and iOS 5.0 as they may not appear in the right positions after you play around with this tweak.
The extra control over the width of your slide to unlock bar along with the ability to customize its text all packed into one free tweak is a great idea, however you wonít like it if youíre already content with your slide to unlock bar as it is. Since itís free, you can give it a try and see if it fits your tastes!
