  • iPad 2 Hints At 1MP Rear Camera & Proximity Sensor

Yesterday Matt had covered the possibility of the additional Rear Camera on the next generation iPad, and today we get even more reports of such, bringing more clarity to the "picture". Or in some cases, less, as many had hoped for a 5MP camera, the iPad camera will be closer to what you see in the 4th Gen iPod Touch.

The folks over at 9to5 Mac have dug into the iOS 4.3 SDK to find some interesting pieces of information inside a file named AVCaptureSession.plist, which is located within a folder called "K94", the rumored codename for the second-generation iPad.

Inside this Plist there is a description that says "Back Facing 1MP Photo". This means that the iPad should still be able to record 720p videos. So what do you think? Is a 1MP camera acceptable?

Digging deeper into the iOS 4.3 SDK, The Brazilian iPhone Blog has stumbled upon another unique piece of information, which pertains to a proximity sensor that would be used when opening or closing a case on the iPad. Ideally this would be a small time saver, allowing you to avoid the need to press the power or home button when opening your case. Nothing breathtaking, but still pretty cool.
