  • [Review] iLettars – Slowed Down Animation Speed for iOS

Many of us wish we could make our iPhone faster at times, but has it ever come across your mind of what it would be like if all iPhone animations were actually slowed down? A new jailbreak tweak dubbed iLettars by iOS developer vincenzoBB allows you to customize your animations to make them as slow as you want them. It doesn't make animations lag; instead everything just slowly falls into place depending on the speed setting you choose. The screenshot above shows the home screen slowly populating a page of applications.

iLettars doesn’t offer any functionality for increasing the animation speed and it only affects certain animations such as opening the App Switcher or paging through the home screen. To use iLettars, you will choose an Activator action for enabling the tweak and you will customize the rate of speed you want your animations to perform at. All of this can be set from the preferences pane for iLettars, which is shown in the screenshot below:

Apart from adjusting the iOS animations themselves, you can also set a delay before the animation even gets a chance to take place – these settings are in the “Delay for Animation” section. In short, you can use this tweak to:
    Slow down animation durations to:
    • 1 second
    • 2 seconds
    • 3 seconds
    • 4 seconds
    • 5 seconds
    • 6 seconds
    • 7 seconds
    • 8 seconds
    • 9 seconds
    • 10 seconds

    Delay animations by:
    • 0.5 seconds
    • 1 second
    • 1.5 seconds
    • 2 seconds
    • 2.5 seconds

When everything is all said and done, you can use this tweak to slow down an animation such as rendering the home screen to time durations as slow as 12.5 seconds (that sure would feel like forever – wouldn’t it?) Using minor adjustments like slowing animations down by 1 second is nowhere near as dreary as waiting 12.5 seconds to page through each page on the home screen and the animation may be somewhat feasible for some people. You will need to invoke your activator action after every adjustment you make in the preferences pane. I can’t really see someone wanting to use this tweak to customize their own device since people enjoy doing things as quickly as possible, but maybe it will end up being a good tweak for pranking people.

Meh, I want to speed up my device not make it slower, besides you can do this with springtomize

I'm too inpatient for a tweak like this...

$1.59 for this crap? I'd get more value from a gumball machine.

This is sort of like how holding shift slows down some of the OS X animations. Try shift clicking the Launchpad Dock icon for an example. I might be interested in this if it had some sort of invocation action like that, but I'm too impatient for globally slow animations.

Are u sure it actually speeds up the phone? I remember testing a speed tweak against a default iPhone and they opened stuff equally fast. The speed just 'appears' to be faster but it's really not...

^yes it does, I use it. Use that, run a script from terminal called CUC, and remove the useless language files and your device will be a lot faster.

Omg I've never seen something like this before. It's so new and cool. Oh wait... its been done many times before.
      Fakeclockup
      Speedintensifier
      Springtomize
Just to name a few. These can all also speed up animations instead.

Take it easy dude he's just announcing new tweaks, probably tweaks made by devs here at modmyi(to give them support).

Of course it doesn't speed it up. iOS animations are set to the speed they are at to give apps time to load. Thats why iOS feels faster and more fluid than other operating systems. I DO remember an overclock tweak. Idk where I found it but it took a lot of digging to find one that actually worked. It involved modifying a system file, and was back in version 3.0, so apple has likely changed/removed it since then.

That's what I thought! I installed Speed Intensifier after reading this article and it DOES NOT make my apps load any faster... It speeds up screen transitions & loader animations but I don't need that; I want an overall increase in loading times.

Even the Speed Intensifier Add-on for overclocking the processor does very little if anything at all...

You may already know this but give "FakeClockUp" a try. First thing I install everytime I restore my devices (for updates).

2nd picture: is that the new iBar with 640x5000 retina display?

The Xsellize repo has a Speedintesifier add-on that is activiated through Winterboard which supposedly overclocks and speeds up your device, but at the cost of battery drainage. The regular Speedintensifier and FakeClockUp just speed up the animations. A little is good but too much and you'll actually be watching apps load. I gotta look more into this language files thing.

The language file and clean up crap (aka 'cuc') tweaks are from the same repo. If you just need to keep ENGLISH ONLY, then Google: 'sysclean'
Otherwise, you'll need 'sysclean pro' to delete and/or keep the languages you need. Both of these are run in MobileTerminal NEW (also from the same repo/source)!

Yeah, I actually ended up doing it through terminal. It works though!
