Spring Fever Symptoms Include iPhones for Regional Carriers, T-Mobile Still Without
Turns out April showers bring a bunch of iPhones to regional carriers. Cellcom, a regional carrier based in Wisconsin, announced the iPhone will be available to their customers soon.
Cellcom advertises themselves as the perfect solution for those traveling throughout Wisconsin and Northern Michigan (da U.P.). They offer service in rural areas usually plagued by poor coverage. They claim to have more cell sites in Green Bay than any other provider.
Cellcom offers a bevy of calling plans, but based on their unlimited offerings customers can get an iPhone with unlimited calling and 3GB of data for $105( $69 call plan, $35 for data), or up the ante to the 5GB plan which is $60 a month bringing the total to $130 a month. However, Cellcom offers a statewide unlimited plan for $20 cheaper a month to those who donít need the nationwide calling, and they even offer discounts to qualified individuals living on tribal lands. Perhaps the best deal for prospective Cellcom customers is the fact they do not charge extra for 4G LTE access, which the carrier claims is coming soon.
It appears regional carriers all over the U.S. are adding the iPhone 4S to their lineup of phones in April. Whether this an effort on Appleís part to blanket the U.S. in iOS goodness, or a mere coincidence isnít known. But, whatever the case the big telecoms are going to see some stiff competition on both handset pricing, and actual cellular plans in the near future. Hopefully we the consumers benefit (please bring back true unlimited data).
Also, where is T-Mobile in all of this? Soon every carrier large and small except T-Mobile will have the iPhone.
