While the multitasking App Switcher is wonderfully easy to use, Apple never gave it support for landscape orientation for when you are in an application that wants you to have your iDevice sideways. This makes using the App Switcher awkward at times. A new free jailbreak tweak dubbed SwitcherLand by iOS developer BTPankow will give you a landscape orientation App Switcher if you want it.
This isn’t to say there has never been a tweak that allows landscape orientation App Switching before, however it all comes down to implementation and performance. SwitcherLand does not cause any noticeable lagging when launching the App Switcher in landscape orientation and applications launch from the App Switcher smoothly as you would have expected Apple to implement it.

One cool feature about SwitcherLand is the ability to lock your device in landscape orientation (shown above). Basically, this allows any application you launch that supports landscape orientation to automatically flip into landscape orientation no matter how you are holding your iDevice. Applications not supporting landscape orientation will stay in portrait orientation as usual.
One thing to note would be that it only launches the landscape orientation App Switcher when you are in an application using landscape orientation. What this means is, just because you are on the home screen and holding the iDevice sideways does not mean you will be able to launch a landscape orientation App Switcher, but this would make a cool future feature for the tweak.
Functionally, the tweak works great as advertised. There are no real perks to being able to launch the App Switcher in landscape orientation except for maybe showing off, however jailbreaking gives us these small tweaks to use our device how we see it fit to be used. It’s a free jailbreak tweak, so give it a try and see if you like it. This tweak will not work for the iPad.
