In iOS, when you hold down the sleep button for a couple of seconds, a slide to power down slider appears. With that slider is a very dark interface that blacks out everything behind it. iOS developer greensnow has created a new free jailbreak tweak dubbed PowerDown Clear so that the interface will not black out everything behind it anymore. The screenshot above helps illustrate how it looks after the tweak is installed.
The developer makes it clear from the Cydia description that the tweak does not add any truly useful functionality to the device, but it is simply a modification that will adjust the looks of the interface when you launch the slide to power down slider. Because of this, the tweak won’t please everyone, simply the people who like the appearance.
Toying around with the tweak ourselves, we have found that the tweak does not take effect after the first respring. Invoking the slide to unlock bar may take two tries for the clearer interface to take effect. After you get it to work once, it will continue to work from then on until you respring again, where you will be plagued with the same problem once more. That being said, it is slightly buggy and I really can't recommend it.
When we tried the tweak, it didn't look the way it looked in the Cydia screenshots either. If you can work around the bugs and you like the appearance of the clearer slide to power down slider, then you may want to give PowerDown Clear a try since it's free and you won't be out anything if you don't like it.
