The iPad has a very large screen compared to the iPhone and iPod touch, however one thing that just doesn’t make sense is the small iPhone and iPod touch-sized slide to unlock slider bar on the lock screen of the iPad. To help you take advantage of the iPad’s wide screen, iOS developer rvirajm created a new free jailbreak tweak dubbed LongSlide for iPad to make that slide to unlock bar just a bit wider to make it more realistic with the iPad’s screen size.
Right off the bat, you can see the difference and it actually removes the slideshow button from the iPad’s lock screen, however it also is not an edge-to-edge slide to unlock bar. This is a good thing because if the slide to unlock bar had been made any longer, unlocking your iPad would quickly become cumbersome. The size of the slide to unlock bar after installing this tweak looks to be just right. It also works in landscape mode – where the slideshow button once again becomes visible:

The tweak isn’t necessarily useful in terms of functionality, but it’s a neat little modification to have installed if you’ve ever wanted to have a larger slider on the iPad just to say you have it. There are no preferences to configure from the Settings application and it works with iOS 5. The developer highly recommends you don’t try installing this tweak on your iPhone or iPod touch as it will cause problems being that it’s an iPad-only tweak.
If you have a liking for the slideshow button on the lock screen of your iPad, then you may not like the way this tweak interferes with it. It's a trade-off that anyone wanting a longer slide to unlock bar will have to consider before installing this tweak, but unless the button is a camera button, most people probably won't care too much. This tweak is free, so try it out.
