Rupert Murdoch is bringing the "Daily" to the iPad next month. News Corp. will officially launch the digital publication on or around January 17, All Things Digital reported on Friday. Of course, this isn't the first time we've heard a "concrete" launch date for the "Daily," which is being hyped as a publishing revolution. Despite the previous delays, however, all signs now point to a January 2011 launch.
The Daily is supposed to use a new “push” subscription feature from Apple, where iTunes automatically bills customers on a weekly or monthly basis, and a new edition shows up on customers’ iPads every morning.
Most publishing and tech analysts believe that a successful launch for the "Daily" - a digital read available as an application - will usher in a new era for digital readers like the iPad - an era in which subscription based daily publications explode both in number and in popularity.
