Draw Something lately? 20 million other people have.
Draw Something, the popular free or $.99 (no ads, more words and bonus coins) social game has generated 20 million downloads in under six weeks. CEO of OMGPOP, Dan Porter, claims the app is generating six figures a day and that the company has made more money since they released Draw Something than they did all of last year.
In case you haven’t played, been asked if you play, or watched someone play Draw Something, the premise is pretty simple. Users are given something to draw (choose between 3 suggestions), and the person they’re playing against must guess what it is they drew via a bank of letters. But, the fun comes watching how hilariously bad you or your opponent’s artistic skills are, which is amplified by the fact the game records your entire creative (or not so creative) process for your opponent to watch.
OMGPOP does concede that not all of the 20 million downloads have transferred to active users, with the number of people actively playing game rounding out near 12 million. However, statistics like the 3,000 drawings a second generated by users on March 11, 2012 are still impressive.
Now only if there was some way to connect a Wacom Intuos pad to your iDevice....
