  • Preorders for New iPad Commence After Few Glitches

    This morning, Apple CEO Tim Cook said the new iPad will be available for preorder beginning today.

    As you might have expected, any time Apple announces a new product for preorder, the floodgates open and web traffic wreaks havoc on the online Apple store. Such was once again the case today.

    With error messages and page crashes immediately reported across the blogosphere, there's clearly a strong buyer interest in the third-generation iPad. And we're pleased to report that the traffic fiasco has settled (to a degree) and preorders are being accepted with any major glitches for the time being.

    Apple says the new iPad will reach buyers on March 16th. As MMi reported earlier, prices range from the low end at $499 to the high end at $829, depending on storage capacity and wireless radio. Apple WILL continue to sell 16GB Wi-Fi iPad 2 for $399 and the 3G model for $529.

    The first countries to get the new iPad next week include the United States, Canada, United Kingdom, France, Germany, Switzerland and Japan.

      Not true I still get error "Http/1.1 Service Unavailable" the servers are still overloaded even though apple has huge server farms, that just shows you how many people are pre-ordering!!!

      I got my 64 GB wi-fi ordered. I have no need for data for it since it will seldom leave my home and I can tether it if I had to. This is my first iPad and the display was what I was waiting for.

      As tempting as the 4G model was, I opted for the wifi version and finally got my order in place after about 45 minutes of trying. THe 4G was very tempting until I gave it some thought. In upstate NY, I haven't heard of many people that fond of the 4G from any of the cellular providers, so theres a shot that the real world speeds won't be that impressive. However, if the real world speeds did reach close to the levels they talked about in the presentation then I would simply be blowing through those BW caps way way too fast and would wind up costing an arm and a leg each month.

      Think they might be dropping the version numbers from the name. Kind of how there is no 'MacBook Air 2'.

      if i get a LTE version, will the unlimited data plan from my ip4 work with it? i mean, can i plug my micro sim from my ip4 into the LTE ipad3 and get unlimited LTE data. im still grandfathered into my ip4 plan with unlimited data. i like the concept of LTE on the ipad, but i dont want to pay for another data plan

      I put my order in today for a white, 32GB WiFi model. I won't be filling it up much so 64GB wasn't really needed, and it will rarely leave the house. I hope the resell value is good next year :P

      I think I have a million dollar question here. Which of the 2 iPads is the most LTE compatible one?

      Canada & the UK only have 1 LTE version of the iPad. This version will be compatible with all the different carriers' LTE implementation. Here in the US we'll have the AT&T and Verizon versions. So which of the 2 will allow me to use LTE via a SIM let's say in Canada or England?

      In England we don't have 4G and won't until 2013 at the absolute earliest. Both the AT&T and Verizon iPads will work with British 3G.
