  • Five iPad 2 Features 'Leaked' in New Report

While millions of holiday shoppers look for the best deals of the year on "Black Friday" today, many prospective iPad buyers have decided to hold off on their first generation tablet on the heels of more reports indicating that the iPad 2 will reach consumers in spring 2011 with a slate of sweet new features. This morning, DigiTimes (citing a report from the Chinese-language Economy Daily News) reveals that sources have "leaked" five new features of the new iPad 2.
    • Video phone
    • New display technology (Retina Display?)
    • 3-axis gyroscope (for gaming enhancements)
    • Better mobility
    • USB

One of the most exciting potential developments would be the addition of a front facing to the iPad 2, bringing the full FaceTime experience to tablet users. Such a move would be "expected to benefit Apple iPad's webcam suppliers," DigiTimes reports. Additionally, the best we can tell is that the reference to "better mobility" suggests a sleeker, more slender model, likely sporting thinner glass, as the report notes. This development would be aided by the infusion of Apple's "Retina Display" technology, which would give the iPad viewing experience the same wow factor of the iPhone 4.

Needless to say, there's nothing overtly shocking about these predicted new features of the second generation iPad. But, until now, we haven't been afforded the opportunity to hear directly from credible sources and media outlets that the added attributes we would expect and desire in a new iPad are actually on tap for the next tablet. Some, of course - especially those who already own an iPad - are hoping for "more," as it will likely take a substantial slate of new bells and whistles to convince a relatively new iPad owner to once against drop somewhere between $500 and $1000 for a second generation iPad within the next few months.

Just sell it. Since you bought it recently you'll get a lot of money for it and hardly lose any money.

I need both my macbook pro and my ipad....can't just go with an iPad without any computer support. How you gonna JB?? I mean i have an iMac and my wife has a macbook pro too...but some people only have 1 computer/laptop...But then again i guess its all what you do on your computer. if you just check your email and surf webpages and dont download much then ya maybe u could get away with just an iPad. But typing on it is not as great as a real keyboard either.

Relax the iPad 2 is 5 or 6 months away, and just because they come out with a next-gen product does not mean you MUST BUY IT. The iPad now is really cool, and sure the next generation will have cool new features but so will iPad 3 and iPad 4 and iPad 5 and iPad 6 and iPad 7 and iPad 8 and iThink you get my point.

Not exactly, my dad is buying the iPad TODAY in hopes to test it out and see if he wants to buy the second generation. My hopes of him passing it down to me I would be happy with the first generation, I think it's awesome and I know I would love it.

How recently? Past 30 days perhaps? If that's the case why not just return and wait a few more months... Or you could just return it every 30 days till the new iPad comes out to avoid being sans iPad!

better mobility can only mean one thing,a 7" ipad.man i did love my ipad at one time but this thing is a pain to walk around with you need a bag for at all times.that's one of the reason i gave my ipad to my kids and got me the Samsung Galaxy Tab.much more mobile than the ipad with a cell phone don't need the crappy iphone4 or an ipad to walk around,i just have one device now that does it all.and i dont have to deal with steve and his bull updates to lock my device or have to jailbreak all the times to get the best for my money,i just got tired of apple's.

Go and do the math for a retina display on the iPad. It's not as simple as on the iphone where they just doubled the number of pixels in each direction. In order to attain the 326ppi "required" to be "retina display," the screen dimensions would have to be ridiculous, more pixels than even most full size computer screens. Combine that with the fact that production cost is not a linear increase as the size increases. Larger screens cost much more to produce as theres a higher number of reject screens due to flaws.

I would be absolutely shocked if they put an actual "retina" display on the ipad. Mind you, this is all under the assumption that they don't reduce the screen size.

      except the USB
      I doubt that'll happen.

So at least two are pure crap. "better mobility" is a buzz phrase and nothing more. USB is not and will not ever be on an iOS device. That's what the apple port is for. Charge, sync.

I don't see why I would need to upgrade. I use my iPad to read books from....sources and midterm essays. I use my iPad for these things only, maybe a game or two.

IF they do put a usb port on the iPad it will be locked has hell anyway and we all know it so i'm not excited about that.
