A new jailbreak widget has surfaced in the Cydia store Ė dubbed WeeToolbox by iOS development team Wundersoft, this free widget can be downloaded from the BigBoss repo to help you reach some hard-to-reach functions right from the coziness of iOS 5ís Notification Center.
Itís a virtual toolbox with buttons allowing you to:
- Quickly compose a Tweet on Twitter using the built-in iOS Twitter interface
- Quickly launch a phone interface for a call (iPhone only)
- Turn on the LED light for speedy flashlight functionality (iPhone 4 and iPhone 4S only)
- View your clipboard and upload your clipboard contents to Pastie
- Rapidly launch the Camera application
The phone button will prompt you to either dial a number manually or to select a contact from your address book Ė a feature that many iPhone users love. WeeToolbox is not made to replace toggles because itís not a toggle widget. This is a widget intended for shortcuts to functions that an iOS power-user would want to use to make heavy multitasking less of a burden. Even though it looks like something right out of an SBSettings theme, it sure isn't!
Graphically, the widget looks very clean. There is very little going on except for some pretty well made icons and a ton of white space surrounding them Ė itís not cluttered like many other third party widgets. There are no other icons in the widget when you scroll side to side; what you see is what you get. In terms of appearance, it doesnít really feel too Apple-esque. Functionally, the widget works well; it's fast-acting and produces little to no lag in Notification Center.
We would like to see future support for more features that will further the functionality for WeeToolbox such as a text message composition button, a Wolfram Alpha query button, a Dropbox upload button, or a random number generator just to drum up some ideas. Feel free to tell us about more ideas to might have.
