  • Otterbox Defender iPhone 4 Case and Sennheiser Earbuds On Sale at Newegg

Newegg is running a "Mid-Winter Super Sale" with a few interesting deals for iDevice owners.

For those looking to add a noticeable, but effective layer of protection to their iPhone 4, Newegg has the Otterbox Defender case for $17.99, $32 off the case's retail price. Amazon has a few color-ways retailing for $18.99 and $19.99 as well. Bright royal-ish blue isn't my thing, and neither are large cases, but for the accident prone among us, $17.99 isn't a bad price for a little peace of mind.

Those in the market for a new pair of headphones might want to check out the Sennheiser CX 485 earbuds. Newegg is selling them for $19.99 with the promo code "EMCNJHD74." The listed retail is $89.99, but the Amazon has numerous pairs for $30 an under as well. Still, Newegg's price is the best deal by about $10. Reviews are overwhelmingly positive, with users describing the sound as clear, crisp, but not overly bass heavy. The headphones even come with a carrying case and in-line audio adjustment. Unlike the Otterbox case the Seinnheiser $40 off promo code ends February first.

Newegg has a number of SSD and other PC components on sale as well including OCZ's Agility drives. Most of the SSD deals involve rebates or cash cards and expire in the beginning of February before the new deals cycle in.

Soooooo why is MMI advertising for a retail outlet? Affiliation? Just passing on a good deal? The link given above is not the same link the site has for the same item. Not really sure but no matter the reason, it smells like affiliation. Just saying'. It is a good deal though if you like putting your iPhone into a huge box. LOL. Not for me, but friends I know that have them love them.

Also, they come in other colors for that price and these are only for iPhone 4 in black, no white iPhone 4 or either color in a 4S.

Just so everyone knows... the iPhone 4 and the iPhone 4S Otterbox Defender is not the same nor will it work on the 4S. SOOOO.. if you order this you must have an iPhone 4 to put it on.

Its 37.94 shipping and all out the door for both items...

Ummm.... That doesn't make any sense. The form factor of the 4 and the 4S is identical, so are the control and device placements. I have 3 cases I bought for the 4 when I had it that fit and work fine on my 4S. I would be willing to bet that it would fit fine on a 4S. As a matter of fact I would guarantee it.

      You would be wrong.

The form factor for the VERIZON iPhone 4 and all iphone 4S are the same. The AT&T iphone 4 is different from both. Antenagate led the revised form factor for the Verizon iphone 4 when it was released, and it was subsequently used in the 4s.

Cases designed for the AT&T iphone 4 will not necessarily fit the iphone 4s. The mute button is the only real issue. It was moved, slightly.

There is indeed a difference between the iPhone4 and the iPhone4 Verizon & iPhone4S. As you can see by the pics the "silent" switch has been moved during the quest to alleviate the antennagate debacle. Even Apple redesigned their bumper as shown in the second pic.

EDIT: haha! Apparently I was crafting my post at the same time as Bosoxmrkn but I got a phone call that interrupted me.

Otter box also revamped their cases, these will fit fine, anymore it's all the same.

No... it isn't all the same. They won't fit. Ever think that is why they are on sale?
Ya know, move out the old at a discount to bring in the new.
Here it is quoted directly from the ad...

"Your iPhone 4 has become a big part of your life. With FaceTime video, retina display, multitasking, HD video recording and more–you've got a lot to lose. You won't find a tougher case than the OtterBox Defender Series for iPhone 4. This rugged iPhone 4 case offers top-notch protection in just about any environment. Don't sweat it, OtterBox has your iPhone 4 covered. (This case is not compatible with the white iPhone 4.)"

The 4S is the same as the white iPhone 4, must be old ad text before the 4S came out.

I bought that for my 4s and it works just fine the silence switch is the only thing that is a little tight to switch on and off other than that it's worth the discount!

I see now. But I did have an AT&T 4 and now have a Verizon 4S and all of the covers I had still fit, so you can see my confusion. I would think that the changed placement would only effect a small percentage of very specifically designed cases. However, I do yield, I was wrong. :-(

I have opened up the hole a bit on some of my old iPhone4 cases to allow them to work, but I have a feeling the OB will be much thicker and difficult open it up. Maybe a Dremal tool would work?
