Last June Facebook hired notable iPhone and playstation hacker Geohot (George Hotz) and buried the young talent deep within their offices far, far away from the Jailbreak community. Well, Geohot is done with Facebook, and back to hacking, well the legal kind.
Business Insider caught up with Geohot at a Backplane hackathon where the talented hacker introduced himself as the guy who got sued by Sony. Geohot’s settled the notable legal battle with Sony over hacking out of court last April. Details of Geohots departure from Facebook still aren’t known, but the knowledge of Facebook’s innerworkings, and possible future updates could prove valuable. Also, Geohot's relationship with the Lady Gaga funded startup Backplane is still unclear.
Now that Geohot isn’t tied down by the Facebook 9-to-5 it’ll be interesting to see if the once notable Jailbreak hacking member will return to his old stomping grounds. While the Jailbreak community by no means lacks talented developers and hackers, adding Geohot back into the mix can only help.
