This WINDOWS ONLY guide will teach you to jailbreak your iDevice using Sn0wbreeze 2.9. The current version of Sn0wbreeze 2.9 is 2.9.3.
Sn0wbreeze is a Windows only alternative jailbreak tool to redsn0w. Redsn0w is also Windows compatible. You will need to have the firmware of your iDevice on your computer somewhere. If you do not then don't worry; there will be a link in Sn0wbreeze that lets you download it right from the software.
Sn0wbreeze supports all iDevices EXCEPT iPhone 4S, iPad 2, and Apple TV. The following firmwares are supported:
- 3.1.3
- 3.2.x
- 4.0.x
- 4.1
- 4.2.1 - 4.2.8
- 4.3 - 4.3.3
- 5.0.1
iOS 4.3.4/4.3.5/4.4.x/5.0 support coming soon
You can download Sn0wbreeze v2.9.3 from mod.my/sn0wbreezewin293.
First, launch Sn0wbreeze. Your window will look like the one below. Click on the OK button:

Next you will be prompted to click the Arrow button:

After you click the arrow you will be brought to a screen that asks you to browse for your .ipsw firmware file. If you have it on your computer already, then click the Browse button. If you don't have it yet click on the iOS Firmwares are downloadable here! button and follow the prompts. Download time varies according to your internet speeds, the file will appear on your desktop when it finishes:

Since we are just going to click browse, the next window that pops up will ask us to find our firmware. Select it and then click the Open button:

After you click open, Sn0wbreeze should automatically discover what iDevice type you are using (iPod touch 4G in this case) along with the firmware version. This means it was successful. Now you want to click on the Arrow button once more to move forward:

Sn0wbreeze will now ask you what mode you want to use. For this guide we are going to keep it as simple as possible. Click on the Simple Mode button:

Now that you've done that, Sn0wbreeze will work through building your custom, pre-jailbroken .ipsw firmware file. You have the option to play Pacman while you wait, if you want to. But for now, we're going to click the No Thanks, I'll stick to the spinner. button. Then, we just wait for it to complete:

When Sn0wbreeze finishes making your custom .ipsw firmware file, it will be present on your desktop after you are prompted with a message that tells you the firmware was made successfully. Process by clicking on the OK button:

The next step is to put your iDevice into DFU mode. Plug it into the computer, and then do this by holding down home and power for 10 seconds. Then, without releasing home, release power and continue holding home for another 15 seconds. When your iDevice has a black screen while attached to the computer, it is in DFU mode. If it says to connect to iTunes, then you goofed up. After it is in DFU mode, click the Start button:

Sn0wbreeze will then run iREB to put your iDevice into 'pwned' DFU mode. This mode will allow the iDevice to accept a custom firmware file from iTunes. The screen should look like this:

After iREB finishes (it should take a couple of seconds), you will get a message saying that you are in 'pwned' DFU mode. Click on the OK button:

Look on your desktop to confirm that Sn0wbreeze made a custom .ipsw file:

If it's there, then open up iTunes, hold down the shift key and click on the Restore button. It will prompt you to search for a firmware file. Open up the firmware file that we just showed you above; the name starts with, "sn0wbreeze..." Once you do that, iTunes will begin restoring your iDevice to the pre-jailbroken firmware. Just wait for the device to reboot and you will notice Cydia on your home screen. While the device is restoring, you should notice a Sn0wbreeze logo on your iDevice screen that resembles the one below:

Congratulations! You've just jailbroken your iDevice with Sn0wbreeze!
