  • P0sixninja: "This A5 Jailbreak Is Quickly Becoming the Most Amazing One Yet!!!"

P0sixninja is a member of the A5 dream team.

The A5 untethered jailbreak for iOS 5.0.1, the one that we've all be waiting for is getting so close to completion that we're starting to smell the scent of it coming from the dream team's oven. It smells just as good as your grandma's cookies doesn't it? One dream team member, p0sixninja (also known as Joshua Hill) tweeted on Twitter shortly ago that the, "A5 jailbreak is quickly become the most amazing one yet". We know that a lot of work has gone into this jailbreak and the time put into it reflects upon their hard work which has been going on for weeks, even before the alliance of the dream team, when iOS hacker pod2g was single-handedly working on it.

We know that the jailbreak is only a while away and that the hackers are racing the clock to get it released. Developers will certainly take advantage of the moment to release new tweaks that only the iPhone 4S can use right now, such as Siri plugins. We also know that the jailbreak for the iPhone 4S will open more doors for the Siri port to older iOS devices; something that we have been anticipating since the release of the iPhone 4S.

While the jailbreak isn't necessarily being completed quickly, it's certainly becoming a hit quickly. The A5 jailbreak is so highly anticipated that even people who were stubbornly and comfortably using the iOS 4.3.3 untethered jailbreak already on their iPad 2 are updating to iOS 5.0.1 tonight with the news that iOS 5.1 (coming shortly) closes the Corona untethered jailbreak. P0sixninja didn't say that the jailbreak was almost done, but only that it's becoming amazing. It makes you wonder why. Maybe because the dream team is getting a lot of great work done in an orderly manner? We must admire how hard that they are working together to beat Apple at their game.

With the constant updates from each of the hackers on a daily basis, we are proud to say that the jailbreak we are waiting for is in good hands. If you have an A5 device, please take time tonight or tomorrow to update to iOS 5.0.1 and make sure that you don't update to iOS 5.1 if you want an untethered jailbreak. There is no bootrom exploit for the A5 devices yet so there won't even be a tethered jailbreak if you update to iOS 5.1. Only A4 devices have the hope for a tethered jailbreak on iOS 5.1 at this point in time.

Get those devices on iOS 5.0.1 folks, the window is closing.

When I see the words 'Dream Team' I think of MJ, Bird and magic.

So Apple had access to it at the same time we all did.
Corona is the untether exploit not the injection point. If it wasn't for limera1n the a4 wouldn't be jail broke either.

Since so many are involved in the jailbreak, where would be the right place to make a donation?

I thought your post was pretty accurate and realistic. And why is one JB more amazing than any other, unless it's proving to be very difficult and they've hit another roadblock...

The need to maintain the secrecy of exploits limits the number of Devs able to work on it - which increases the time required to produce the ultimate JB.
Apple is winning the war - and if they release 5.1 to the public before the Dev team gets uJB-5.01 out, they'll have won this battle too.
By any definition, 9 months of closure vs 3 days of an open JB'ing window has to be a near-win for Apple.
It'll stop significant numbers from JB'ing ... basically, anyone not monitoring the JB situation on a daily basis.
      It's basically being driven underground.
This could be true, or Apple could have figured it out too. I am sure they employ one or two clever folks of their own.

Apple Devs can download the jailbreaking software just like anybody else. I assure you that there is a department that jailbreaks phones from software released so they can close the possibility on the next fw release. I really don't think that the jailbreak dev teams are calling Apple and saying this is what you need to do to fix it. Apple employs very intelligent coders just like the coders that develop our beloved jailbreaks.

      D'oh!
Of course. I was forgetting it uses the same exploit - which makes you wonder why they revealed it with the (relatively unpopular) tethered JB.
Surely, it would be better to wait to release the untethered JB - thereby maximising the JB'ing window.
Apple rarely release FW updates without releasing beta's to app developers - which can take several months.

I agree. Probably would have been better not to release it for the A4 devices until it was ready for the A5 devices as well.

I think they should've waited until 5.1 came out

I second that. I was happy with the tethered exploit. It would've been wiser to wait for both A4 & A5 exploits to be released at the same time, but I see several reasons why he'd release the A4 first. Honestly, if I was pod2g I'd be considering charging for the software because of all the incredibly rude people out there that verbally beat him up.
