  • Apple Announces January 19th Education Event in The 'Big Apple'

The rumor mill got this one right.

Confirming that which has been speculated about for days, on Wednesday Apple began distributing invitations to the media for an event the company will hold next week in New York City.

As anticipated, the event is described as being "educational" in nature, and no major product releases or refreshes are expected. So if you were hoping for an iPad 3 or Apple TV unveiling, you will probably be disappointed.

The media showcase is scheduled for Thursday, Jan. 19, at the Guggenheim Museum in New York City. Apple Senior Vice President Eddy Cue is expected to lead the presentation, although Apple has not yet confirmed that suspicion.

The event in question will almost certainly focus on new developments and related enhancements with regard to the iBooks platform - particularly as it pertains to education and digital textbook publishing.

We will keep you posted as more information becomes available.
