  • MuscleNerd Tweets iPhone Unlock Statement

On Friday morning, MuscleNerd provided an update to our community. Calling it the "Official iPhone unlock statement," MuscleNerd says: "no unlock will be released until after 4.2.5 or official 4.3 (whichever is last) is out." If its' true that good things really do take time, now would be a good time to aquire that virtue called patience - assuming being a member of this community hasn't already imbued you with that aforementioned attribute.

Although the revelation isn't groundbreaking, MuscleNerd's latest comment is serving to cool the jets of those who think the Dev Team is about to drop "what's next" in the coming days. "Itís silly to release anything during Apple betas," says MuscleNerd, "because most people canít take advantage.Ē

The news from MuscleNerd comes just as an NBC News affiliate reports that Apple is ramping up efforts to recruit the Federal Government to assist in cracking down on iOS jailbreaking. "Current jailbreak technologies now in widespread use utilize unauthorized modifications to the copyrighted bootloader and operating system, resulting in the infringement of the copyrights in those programs," Apple tells the U.S. Copyright Office in the company's most recent plea for help.

While there is nothing more than just wild speculation to this suggestion, some believe that if BGR's report Wednesday is correct in reporting that Apple is considering an iPhone 5 without a physical home button, one of the biggest reasons for that possible hardware revision would be to somehow complicate the jailbreak process.

MyWi, SBSettings and iFile would be the only other things I would miss.

I skipped the iP4, and held onto my 3GS, but if the iphone5's forward are not jailbreakable, I will pick up a iP4 and that will be my last (unless they start allowing themes! ...I would LOVE to see a Theme's section on the appstore!!!)
      Got some news for you.
      1. Iphone 4 is a lot faster, multitasks better, and manages memory better than the 3GS.
      2. The one I purchased, and a few other Iphone 4s, have been units with IOS 4.0 or 4.02 on them, so they are easily jailbreakable right out of the box.

OK plain and simple if I purchase a PC I can run any OS on it that I choose, Doesnt matter if it is a IBM, Dell, HP whatever... Isnt a Smart Phone the same as a small mobile computer??? What is next Dell saying if I run anything other than Windows on my PC they are going to sue me? Just silly Greed from apple this will be the last iPhone I purchase. Steve Jobs did a god job of bringing Apple out of the muck just to start the decline all over again. Do they realize they dont have the only phone with the same capabilities of the iPhone, and people have a friggen choice? Idiots!!!!!

Is this mean that since apple is releasing beta constantly that a jailbreak could never be released.
People that broth a lot of software from cydia like are not getting any usage of that software for the last 3 or 4 months patience may be a virtue but in this case it is outrageous. And this to avoid some more work from the developers..... Come on!!!!!!!!!!

Unless the release of untethered 4.2.1 JB tool might affect future JBs, then they should at least release what they have. Because it now sounds like we will be waiting until late Feb/early March before anything is released.

      Decisions, Decisions!!

There is no last.. After apple released the 4.2.5 or 4.3 it will take time for the dev team.. Then apple will release again another "fix" firmware.

Apple seems winning on strategy vs dev team

EXACTLY why I left iPhone, and EXACTLY why I won't ever be back. Apple's unquenchable thirst to control what I can and can't do on MY device.

Google on the other hand, could care less if I want SMS Popup or the ability to download Youtube videos. Actually, they encourage it, provide an open market to provide it, and it happens to be free.

Yeah. Like break email/iPod/alarm clock just to have a reason to release another OS after a jailbreak is released.

Since when do they need a reason to release an iOS update? They can be perfectly honest and say they are patching a security hole. No need to dream up an excuse.

Oh. I was giving them the benefit of the doubt, seeing how as the iPod issues and the multiple alarm clock fails were pretty ridiculous for a company who claims their software to be the main selling point, on a 4 year old platform.

Besides, an honest communist is still a communist.

Check out X D A - developers dot com. When it happens, it'll be there.

My guess is within 30 days of it's release there will be an unlock, a stable one-click-root, and several ROMs.

I know I can't wait til it comes out. I'm probably gonna get one and sell my Captivate.

+10! I'm in the same boat. The only thing that limits you from modding on Android is, how fast can you learn how to mod on Android. No worries of a commie in Cali blocking me from customization.

Although, I do love my Mac, as far as portable Apple products go, they've gone too far with control, and there are vastly better products on the market.

^I wouldn't go so far as to say "vastly superior products" but we get the point! There are exciting products being introduced every day, most by co's other than Apple. The iPhone glamor days are almost over and many competitors have stepped up.

Seriously, I can use 90% of the phones functions by voice, I have widgets, my screen is WAY bigger, its faster, more stable, I watch DIVX w/o converting, can upgrade the memory whenever I want, buy a new battery when this one goes DOA, and since I'm on TMobile, I get 4G speeds. I tether a consistant 5MBs and I live in Downtown ATL. Yeeeeeaaaa... Im straight with my HTC
Yeah, but it's all to nothing because Android screen interaction and touch-sensitive buttoning ruins the whole enchilada.

And even if they didn't, a few Android app installs in and you have to reformat because things get messed up so quickly.

There's a reason iDevices continue to kick Android *****.
Android really need to up their game if they're ever to mount a serious challenge to Crapple.

Tiny umbrella anyone? What was that home button for again?
I click a button called "enter recovery mode" or "kick out of recovery mode"
All i need is an apple cable and windows vista. The unlocks of old required brains, guts, and sweat, and DID void any guarantee or warantee you might have had. Too bad we can't go back...
JB will be around a while, and so will i.
